Oppenheimer (2023)
Boring sleeper
Hollywood throws awards at a movie to create interest but didn't work with this cliche-ridden tremendous waste. Just because it's melodramatic doesn't mean it's interesting to the masses! I guarantee most who gave this movie great reviews could barely keep their eyes open. Acting was nothing special, either. Read several reviews raving of the leads and cannot understand what they saw! I saw nothing in this movie worthy of an Oscar or even conversation of any award for acting, cinematography, etc.
Tired of seeing Robert Downey in films, by-the-way. He adds nothing. Not a draw and never was.
Disappointed in Oppenheimer on every level and glad didn't pay to see it.
Lizzie Borden Took an Ax (2014)
Bad music editing....better in 1975 with Montgomery
Was looking forward to watching this but a let down. As the others reviewers added, music was awful. Should have been no music or period music. Blaring Sons of Anarchy-type songs did not fit in with an 1892 murder case! And was so poorly edited as to block out characters speaking...! Ricci performance was decent. Rest of movie a disappointment. Would have liked more development on Bridget the Irish maid and Emma. Possibly more angles from neighbors, town-folk. The movie to watch on the case was Legend of Lizzie Borden with Elizabeth Montgomery. What a surprise from her Bewitched days! Her portrayal was edgy and spot on.
Bad Teacher (2011)
Loved Bad Teacher!
Great funny blackish comedy! Cameron YOU ROCK! I want to see more of this type! If you don't get the joke..you are a MAW-RON...! Great comedy well played by Miss Diaz! And Justin Timberlake playing against type was great too. Every time I watch it I smile and laugh and thats what its all about. I was reminded of another fave Heartbreakers with its bawdy over the top humor. Funny part? Her coming into house and saying "im going to ..." and his parents being there. Funny part? Cameron not being able to get high and then banging on liquor store not knowing closed for holiday. Funny part? Cameron banging her fist and shouting at kids running in hall due to fustration with Timberlake. And so much more!
The Women (2008)
Waste of talent,film,time-disappointing!
I sat down to watch The Women when I had some time to myself anticipating a fun 'chick' flick. How disappointing! Terrible trash from some of the big stars of Hollywood. I disagree with the others here of Meg Ryan--she looked great, whatever she is doing; she is aging but still looks attractive. But what of Annette Bening? She looked awful-bad makeup, bad clothes, the scarf for the neck, all of it. Check her out in The Grifters--drop dead gorgeous and sexy. The typical Mazar role. The pretty Debra Messing reduced to bad lady status. Eva Mendes I don't know but she looked a bit like Raquel in her day. But its not all about how bad they looked--the acting, the script;I cant think of one redeeming aspect of it. So what of Cloris Lechman,Bette, and Candice having some 'wise'words-no one talks or acts like this in real life and doesn't want to see it on film--its beneath us. I usually love a sweet funny lovely movie like Sleepless or most of Julia Roberts movies. I hope those who made this crap will listen and make something worthy of us whom seek something light but not embarrassingly bad.
Walk the Line (2005)
rather hear Johnny sing!
I want to hear the voices of the REAL Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash!Yes, I have the music but with this movie, Geez are we all missing a huge point here? Great to have John's life played well but I would rather have heard their songs. Joaguin doesn't look like John or sound like John or does Reece sound or look like June. It just doesn't work for me knowing the haunting sound of Johnny's voice. Its his voice that brings the legend full circle. The man in black with the deep sad songs is not portrayed in this movie. I hope that if anything, this movie will make wonder of the man and seek his voice and songs and the roots of June's Carter family.
