Denzel in a Steven Seagal movie
12 October 2023
Put Denzel in, it adds flavor and coolness. Put Seagal and you have a generic, D grade, straight-to-video movie.

Everything here feels fake and forced, from the paper-thin villains, to the overly typical locals. It just looks and feels : meeeeh... The action is rare and far apart, and when it's on, it's far far from the first two Equalizers.

If you're really a die hard fan of the series, it's just OK to watch. If not, don't bother. Rewatch the first two.

We ought to be used by it by now : two words - no substance. Nothing catches on, feels tasteless and empty. Just another cliched, poorly written, mediocre flick.

Guy Ritchie... not
10 March 2023
The dialogues in this movie are insufferable. Is it supposed to be witty ? Funny ? What are we even watching ?

Every actor is typecast here but as a caricature of himself/herself in a very forgettable plot and everything revolves around the way the dialogues are written : a very irritating machine-gun-supposed-to-be-funny style... This nullyfies the credibility of the characters, kills the plot and, on top of that, is far from being funny.

Scene after scene of the descibed above, peppered with some action here and there. End of the movie... Why Guy Ritchie ? Why ?.. It's not even subpar. It's a waste of time.

Some of us actually have brains
4 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The usual gripes with all new series or movies. They try to compensate for the lack of content and for the mediocre writing by including nonsense and long scenes of unnecessary intimisation that is unrealistic and borderline cringy.

From the first episode only : we get countless minutes of Bridges whizzing and caughing... For the love of God... We get it... He's old. OK. Move on.

Then the conversations on the phone with his daughter that feel very stiff and with zero spontaneity - and it repeats over and over.

Then Lithgow with his grandson. Intimisation again. Out of the blue. Why ? The interactions also seem forced and the kid asks 25 year old's questions.

But the cherry on the cake, and also the moment when it became clear to me that this series is aiming to shovel excrement into my brain, is in one of the first action scenes : a guy is standing in the middle of the road, beside his car, at night in an isolated area, so the silence is deafening. The guy asks his partner : where is he ? At which point he gets destroyed along with his car by a speeding car coming from the side... In perfect silence... He didn't hear the car coming... Yawn... Cheap. Very Cheap... So apparently, everything goes. Doesn't matter if it makes the tiniest bit of sense.

So no, thank you. 3 just because Bridges and Lithgow.

Excellent mix

In it's genre, this movie is the absolute top. Perfect black comedy with a perfect cast. The situations and the jokes are spot on and not once did it have the "meh" effect you get from movies nowadays. And besides, everybody that knows what IBS is, automatically feels for the guy and wonders... do i have a Milo down there ?

A whole lot of nothing
20 January 2020
Just another one of those bloated series. This is the recipe : take the plot of a single episode of X-Files and stretch it on a whole season. Add a lot of drama, dramatic music, empty dialogues and "Takeshi Kitano"-type camera moments. It's style over substance... Over and over again.

Treating us like imbeciles
13 March 2019
The whole point of this "woke" waste of time is to somehow put together a story where the white guy is an uneducated, racist thug, whereas the black guy is a cultivated, intelligent musician... Take those legos and make a space shuttle out of that. It's bad, all around. Badly acted, badly scripted, full of cliches and veeery slow. Scenes are set up over and over again to make us understand how racist this one is, and how cultivated the other is. Oooook, thanks ! We get it ! Mortensen would probably give a better performanse as an amoeba than an Italian tough guy. And by the way, Italians are represented here as a Saturday Night Live version of the Sopranos... but really not funny. For a "woke" movie, they'll certainly offend the Italians. Do not watch this movie.

Oh poor me

When a movie starts like this one, then you know you're in for a lot of nonsense. So... a guy named Jacques, who's supposed to be French but barely speaks French... And the rest of the movie is just depressing drama where you watch grown people play with their belly-buttons (figuratively speaking). I mean, really ? Who cares ? Don't people have enough of other people's lives around them ? Do they really have to look for more in movies ?.. Well, i guess i'd swallow anything just to see and hear Tony Soprano once again. And i did !
