Majestic example of human creativity
8 February 2024
I barely even watch movies any more.

Tired and overloaded with information and indoctrination of the contemporary society. It's all just becoming pointless.

So, remembering that The Big Country is one of the movies I have fond memories lasting from a time where I was still fresh, naive and young, I decided to test myself in a way, and try watching it again.

And oh man, did the test worked out - t gave me all the feels I had back then..and so much more.

This film is a collective creative effort radiating purity, class, elegance, harmony, honesty, simplicity, power, passion..in a way that just resets a jaded spirit and brings back clarity and peace of mind, and warmth of the heart.

Gregory Peck and Jean Simmons make some of the best and most beautiful chemistry ever put on the screen.

Jerome Morross' music majestic and glorious.

And 2h:45m of duration doesn't have one wrong or excessive frame, making every single moment worth of your precious time.

Wow. Actually Dream Works' best work and a true animated masterpiece!
9 January 2023
Just when you think you really know what to expect and that nothing can surprise you any more, life taeches you lessons.

This movie is one such little lesson.

I gave up hope on big Hollywood animated studios to make any true great movie any more.

And even while Dream Works didn't degrade nearly as bad as Pixar, and Disney's Encanto was really good and actually made me almost tear up at one point, in the end it left that feeling of a perfectly calculated, executed and polished product above all else.

But Puss in Boots: The Last Wish leaves the feeling of genuine creative inspiration and love.

It radiates brilliance.

The noble, positive story delovered through absolutely deligtful animation (which itself is a technically and artistically novel and perfectly welcome combination of the standard high definition rendering with a soft "cell shaded" layer on top of it) made me pause and smile, laugh and gaze at the visual experience throughout.

The character design and facial animations are sublime, and Jack is by far the most strikingly designed animated villain I've ever seen.

All in all, I just want to express my admiration and congratulate to everyone involved in making this gem.

The Batman (2022)

A $200 million worth of production about the most popular "super hero" that DOESN'T CATER TO THE AUDIENCE!
2 May 2022
..and that is why there's so many negative reviews here.

The general brainwashed mass just didn't get what it is conditioned to get - a SHALLOW, FORGETTABLE, "FUN" ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCT.

What this is, is a 3 hours of grim, dark and rain soaked FILM that feels like an unbelievable breath of fresh air!

It is an actual blockbuster that caters only to itself, and hence to the select minority of people who will appreciate and recognize what it is all the meticulous care it put into itself.

It is a movie that doesn't want nor tries to be "FUN" It actually asks for viewers patience, and attention.

If you watch it more than once, with as many pauses you need, and try savor it slowly, you will start to realize all the actual care that went into this movie.

Yes, there are flaws, quite a few of them, but overall this is WITHOUT competition the highest quality Batman movie.

It finally presents us with relatable and emotionaly realistic character, the Batman as is should have been for anyone who understands or cares what an actual childhood trauma is.

And I'm not even going to scratch on the monumental work of art that is the cinematography here (even tho I have to admit I really DID NOT have to freaking pour the rain all the time. That was my greatest complaint).

Matt Reeves, I applaud and thank you.

Please don't change, and keep doing you!

This has no business being this magically good
31 January 2021
Yugoslavia(Croatia) during the 80's is an experience only us who lived there and then, can understand. It is, in a word, undescribable. Like the rest of the world is just a pale reflection of everything this time and place was. And you know what, this series somehow manages to make it happen. It is transferring the viewer back in utterly masterful ways.

A soul enriching watch. And a must see for those who are still afraid of wolves
2 January 2021
This is so amazingly edited and filmed that one can't help but realize they must have used semi wild/tame wolves to manage all the sequences..but that does not take away on its value and credibility in the slightest. On contrary, it only adds more power and depth on delivery of the message and extra dimension of insight on life of the wolf.

The ultimate embodiment of ongoing social travesty
7 December 2020
This winning the best movie Oscar exposed Hollywood for what it really is. The award doesn't have anything to do with actual art of filmmaking, and everything about political subversion.

The movie itself is truly shallow, bad, grotesque and tedious..but what lofts it to a whole other level of bad is its pretentious nature.

Greenland (2020)

One should not simply rate this rate this as a movie.. because it so much more than a "disaster movie"
17 November 2020
"Greenland" actually shows the bigger reality of our existence on this planet, and does it in a realistic way. Without a moment of boredom, and without any notable thing to complain about. For that alone it deserves the highest mark.

PHENOMENAL visual and technical achievement.
26 September 2020
I remember seeing this movie in theaters, almost 20 years ago. And the more time passes by, one thing becomes ever clearer - this should've been a landmark, an industry defining movie. Its mask work is absolutely brilliant triumph of practical effects, that is STILL absolutely unrivaled and superior to any CGI. Sadly, the revolution did not happen. Instead of recognizing what can be done with classical "make up" techniques, the movie industry collectively indulged into artificial image manipulation, to its utter detriment.

Fascinating depths of nothingness
26 May 2020
This is an impeccable, triumphant achievement of deep triviality. Basically everything that happens are the feelings of the three characters who do nothing. The way the main protagonist communicates its feelings and relationship is basically this film's core. He speaks out things that come across highly artificial yet completely real and relatable..pompous yet humble. Concepts that are normally in the back of one's mind but aren't supposed to be communicatet verbally.

An ultimate testament to maybe the greatest sports career ever
12 May 2020
One could see sport as next to irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, but this chillingly well made documentary is as much about life as it is about the thing we call basketball.

Human Beings
2 April 2020
It truly takes being a human to fully appreciate the Little Big Man. Analyzing it in a manner of movie review would only diminish it.

I had a feeling this will be bad..but it is not just bad..it is an abomination in the worst sense
14 March 2020
..After the first episode they had me cautiously hoping there just might be something new here..but by episode 5, I gave up. Left with a feeling nothing is "sacred" in this world anymore. What a repulsive, fake, convoluted grotesque this turned out to be.

The most overrated movie in history
1 May 2019
Ah, humanity.. if the collective decides that something is good, cool and great, it sees it through tragically twisted perspective. This time, everyone just seems to fall under the brainwashing hype train of this whole Marvel cinematic universe cultural farce. Let's just shut our brains off and ignore the absolutlely OVERWHELMING amount of stupidity and shallow, fake pathetics that these plots and heroes present us with.

Not me! I'll say that the Infinity War was actually good, this was far too much of a brain hurting cringefest.

Bumblebee (I) (2018)

Could've been a great reboot, still easily the most watchable transformers movie
27 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm just continously baffled by how these big Hollywood productions keep having the most basic and obvious little plot holes. Why are transformers on original cybertron transformed into earth vehicles? How is Bumblebee apparently able to completely heal himelf, even from the most severe damage, yet his audio synthesis is permanently damaged and his car radio needs to be manually fixed by a girl?

Such logical offenses prevent this from truly setting a solid landmark for the reboot of the franchise which is a shame because the movie has quite a bit of charm (save for John Cena's awfully cliched and bland character)

99.99% of movies..
29 October 2018
..are about one single culture, that began 10000 years ago when people started the agricultural way of life, which eventually devoured and conquered every other culture created by man. "Alpha" is not one of those movies, and for that alone it deserves a maximal grade. A true rarity.

Actually better than the original.
23 October 2018
This movie is..should I say, incredible? The charm, character and comedic flare radiating from the characters, especially the kids, is just something that takes a whole lot of soul, inspiration, heart, wits and love for the work. It's just not another run of the mill shallow, artificial blockbuster..if the alone fact that it took so long for the sequel to materialize wasn't enough of an indication for that being the case.

I was expecting the worst..
11 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
..after seeing the trailers. I lost all hope for this franchise, and I felt disgusted. Well, surprise surprise..after seeing the movie(of course I had to), I dare to say I actually rank it second only to the original Jurassic Park. Somehow all the plot holes (the biggest one being the fact that it turns out the original Park was "ingeniously" built on an island that is basically a massive active volcano peak above the ocean), and ridiculous sequences (the girl manages to escape and locks herself in a room, then jumps into bed of all places, then waits for the monstrous dino to crawl inside slowly through the window and onto the bed itself. This is followed by the Chris Pratt character busting into the room, and after unsuccessful attempt to tase the beast, standing still right next to an open door and staring into it while it slowly recovers..in other words, doing absolutely nothing a person in such situation should do)... somehow it all fades under the sheer cinematic brilliance and a number of superb scenes and sequences, some of the best in the whole series - the dinosaur stampede in front of volcanic eruption, Chris's paralysed character getting licked by the ceratopsian and getting exposed to lava, the collective fall off the cliff, the whole idoraptor chase sequence etc. There are some moments of pure superbly styled gothic horror, marvelously visualized and with qenuine care for detail. Last but not least..the CGI effects are, at long last, PERFECT. They were the worst part of the worst movie in the franchise, The Jurassic World. But this time they finally did it right and made me genuinely impressed. It is the first time the CGI creatures left a convincing, realistic impression of musculature, mass, momentum, texture and movement. The final scene where raptor and indoraptor fall together is a triumph of simulated physics engine. Granted I'm a geek and maybe this matters to me more than to the average movie goer, but the quality of the visual effects itself is a big deal here, and is a true landmark moment. It must not be overlooked.

Overall, a movie with silly premise and some large plot holes, but a brilliantly filmed, entertaining movie that really kept me engaged and brought suprising amount of awe.
