Progressives are being satirized here and they don't even notice it
19 June 2022
When someone wakes up in a Maryland's hospital bed in 2022 after a 20 years coma and see how things have changed, the heroine's reaction should be the central point of the movie, but in this case the attention is swiftly turned on the school environment depiction. Every liberal behaviour is mocked here with gusto (after all this is supposed to be a comedy). That's why we have the weird Bri Luvs - Lance couple, the prom queens and kings exhibition rack replaced with a "plastic free sea" environmental mural made with tampons and, of course, the cheerleaders' clowny routines about turtles choking before stating that every member is a captain to promote equality. But, as these comedies about a woman trying to overcome the system generally develop, the ending is predictable and we shouldn't complain about it.

This is not a good picture, of course, but I'll give it a 5 just because is better than 90% of Adam Sandler's comedies...even though someone could think that's not a good baseline.

2 hours and 43 minutes: Enough time to die.
25 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A villian developing a massive destruction weapon that could destroy human life, a woman and a child in jeopardy and only one man that can fix all this: James Bond. Did we see it before? Of course, it's a remake of a remake of a remake of any spy movie. So, producers sit down at the long table and, with $250 mil in their hands to spend, decided: "Well, let's try something different this time. Let's kill Bond." What I think of that can be expressed like this: Bond deserved more than a missile blast to say goodbye. But, as the movie turned out to be an overwhelming 163-min excuse to put an end to an iconic character, it doesn't surprise me the lack of imagination put into it. All of us have noticed that the franchise owners worry a lot to offer more and more daring twists to the essence of James Bond. But this time, IMHO, they crossed the line. It feels like watching a construction company smashing down a traditional house to rise a new, 21th century skyscraper, destroying the beauty, the romanticism of the original structure. Of course, to accomplish that they have to wait for the homeowner to leave: Mr. Connery died last year. We cannot do anything to stop it, but let me say just one thing, and I'm sure I'm not wrong: Ian Fleming would have despised "No time to die". Albert R. Broccoli would have loathed it. And, of course, Mr. Connery. And Mr. Moore.

People who stayed to read the full credits have surely read the last words on screen: "James Bond will return". I conclude this with a message for the new generation of Eon Productions: don't you dare. If some decency still remains in your greedy hearts, don't do it. Seriously. Don't.

I changed my rating for this show from 7 to 2 because...
30 September 2021
There are sad ways to ruin a show, for example, killing off a character people wanted to see (like Mischa Barton in the O. C.) or by writing terrible endings (Dexter) but the worst way to ruin a children's show is... to smuggle politics.

References to BLM, Green Deal, a just arrived immigrant kid wearing a jacket that reads "Future voter" and a whiteboard marked "Things that made me happy" with the sentence "Obama retwitted me" written in it, are some of the things you'll see in the second season. I won't change my 7 for some of the first season's episodes, but overall, Disney ruined the most original show they have in its hands. So sad.

Move along, nothing to see here!
12 September 2021
The first word coming to me after watching this movie has 6 letters: boring. I had to split the session to reach the finale, thank God this wasn't an only-in-theaters flick because I would have to step out in the first hour. Formulaic, predictable, already seen before, a remake of another remake. This is a snail race with nothing really attractive, nothing even noticeable. Seriously, this is so hard to follow, I asked myself if I was really obliged to get through all this 110 minutes torture of tiresome dialogues and lack of action. I've seen more lively scenes in a wax museum than in this movie. There's no way for me to recommend this bottle of Valium. No way.

No Good Nick (2019)

No good... in any way
21 August 2021
Outrageous from the beginning, this show's premise is simple: a teenager breaks into a house by telling the family she's an unknown relative (and homeowners believe it just like that) in order to use this home as headquarters to commit (with three accomplices) criminal acts that vary from selling counterfeit wine to bank robbery. The problem here is, this show is rated +7, so kids are supposed to feel empathy for the character and bypass the meaning of these acts, and it's also supposed to be a comedy. You can say she's bound to do so by his convicted father, but the truth is she doesn't look really pressured, partly because of the terrible acting. If that is a kid's show for Netflix... I suggest to do the same as me: I have it blocked in all my profiles, the only way to protect the children from influences like this.

Hanna-Barbera lovers, you better stay away.
21 August 2021
First of all, this is not a TV-G show. The violence and gross images displayed from the very first episode are enough to rate this as PG-13. And second, apparently the intention was to make some of those risky grotesque cartoons but the way this one uses Hanna-Barbera characters trespasses the limits. Well, people at Warner Bros. Are the copyright holders now and they can smash its former competitor's creations if they want to. I'm talking about the creepy drawing some untalented "artists" produced for this thing, something unforgivable when the show is based on the visuals because the writing is terrible. Warner already chopped Yogi Bear in its infamous 2010 movie, but this new Yogi Bear looks like a failed preliminary draft. And that Top Cat, my 9-years-old niece is da Vinci compared to the loser who draws the yellow feline. This is hardly watchable, but I give it a 3 just for the intentions. And please, keep HBO Max out of reach of children.

Gabby Duran & The Unsittables: The Bubble (2021)
Season 2, Episode 9

Let's face it... It's Disney
15 August 2021
And showrunners at Disney couldn't restrain themselves and sprinkled Gabby Duran with their political agenda: BLM, "systemic racism", "green deal"... Too bad Gabby's effort to "heal the world" led to a bee swarm disaster. Will this episode lead to a show cancellation after two seasons? We'll see.

Nancy Drew (2019–2023)
2/10
This is not Nancy Drew
1 November 2019
After watching two episodes (I won't see anymore), the only thing that comes up to my mind is: What a way to butcher an iconic character. The CW's "Who are going to darken now" formula is not working anymore, and that's something the owner of this character should have consider before selling the rights (unless the check was really very big). Nancy Drew is supposed to be a mystery series, but what I found was 90% tedious personal relationships and 10% mystery. In addition to this, the acting is not convincing and if Nancy Drew takes more than two episodes to solve a mystery, something's wrong with the writing. Something called incompetence. Do you want to listen to a joke? CW had the nerve to open through Wattpad a "Nancy Drew writing contest" for this show. Could they get any lower? And the ratings... c'mon, if "Batwoman" has more audience than "Nancy Drew" we're talking about a catastrophe. It would be insane to renew this flop for a second season. And on top of that, to see a 66-years old Pamela Sue Martin (the best Nancy Drew of all time) making a cameo in this pathetic show was really shocking. Through the years, Nancy Drew has been an inspirational character for women, portraying a strong, witty and determined young detective. She introduced the "girls can do anything" as a theme in mystery books. And what did CW throw to the screen? Nancy Drew jumping over an ex convict in a mattress in the very first scene. I give it a 2, and I don't give it a 1 because some people could consider a flood of "1"s as bullying.
