Naturist Cleaners (2021)
Not much going on here
The site says the budget was 2,500 pounds, and that seems about right. There is more talk than anything else. Maybe eight minutes actually seeing the concept in action. Only one woman actually doing cleaning. Seems nice enough, but I'd be afraid to get something caught while working. Harmless half an hour.
True Nordic Crimes: African Beauty (2015)
Low budget?
Recreated tale of an African beauty who opens a brothel in Iceland. The "prostitutes" are shown wearing torn stockings, so I am thinking the budget or editing was not good.
Iris Chang: The Rape of Nanking (2007)
Truly disturbing documentary
I had only the briefest knowledge of the Nanking atrocities. The savagery inflicted on the Chinese, and at the end of the film the Bataan Death March of American soldiers has to be one of the worst, if not the worst, treatment of human beings by supposedly civilized people. I am not minimizing the genocide of WWII at all, as I am the son of a Holocaust survivor. The fast that they found people (Japanese) who allege it never happened is no surprise, looking at apologists for the Holocaust, and currently COVID-19.
The end, focusing on the author, is unnecessary and detracts from the film, so you may want to cut viewing short by say ten minutes.
Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill (2020)
Not what we expected which is fortunate
The newspaper review I read said to watch his earlier Netflix special, where he was still funny, and then watch this one to see how feh it is. My wife and I did and what a disappointment THE FIRST ONE was. A few chuckles but couldn't get through it. 23 Hours is so much funnier. Need to stop reading reviews in the paper.
Behind Bars: America's Toughest Jail (2012)
Just about what I expected
Saw this nine part series on Pluto TV. Typical "reality" show. Lots of overlap within and between episodes. They said it wasn't staged but I'm not buying it. Prisoners being fed for 20 cents per day? The food was disgusting to look at and probably tasted the same. Expired cold cuts and the like? Five hours of my life I'll never get back. At least I was being productive while it ran.
Don't waste your time.
The King of Queens: Fresh Brood (2006)
Baby credit
Maybe it's Jennifer Tabe? It's her only credit.
The British Film Industry: Elitist, Deluded or Dormant? (2014)
Interesting for a different reason
Well done docimentary, though obviously from the UK point of view. The best thing about it was seeing the posters for so many films I've hever seen, but have added to my watchlists.
Boobs: An American Obsession (2010)
Didn't think it could happen
I couldn't imagine a film that makes boobs boring and unsexy, but this one does the job nicely. Couldn't even make it to the end. Starts out well, and deflates like a bad implant.
