Mashle: Magic and Muscles: Mash Burndead and the Survival of the Fittest (2023)
What a mediocre climax
What a disappointing fight. No sense of drama or dynamics and only a hint of the comedy tips that made up the beginning of the series. Every episode new stuff is established that makes everything before seem irrelevant, but the world building remains on the level of a 14-year-old's short story. The series here wants to be like 'One Punch Man' by force but only understands a fraction of what makes 'One Punch Man' such a great anime. I'm looking forward to seeing the last episode so I can finally put this nonsense to rest. It's honestly a shame because I was really into this series at the beginning.
House of the Dragon: King of the Narrow Sea (2022)
First good Episode without major flaws
For the first three episodes I have to say they all lacked somehow authencity, the characters felt mostly shallow, and the story seemed unsure of what to tell and in which pacing. It all reminded me of the weaker episodes of GoT Season 7.
But this episode is the first one who seems to get most of that right, has a tense atmosphere and good feeling for pacing. And for the first time in this series, I'm into the characters and feel like I can't tell what they are about to do next.
I hope this episode is only a pre taste of what is about to come, but I already like what it does with the characters. I'm looking forward to the next episode a lot!
Supai Famirî (2022)
Overrated AF, but still worthwhile
On the whole, a very entertaining and enjoyable action-comedy mix. Many storylines are very predictable and do little to nothing new, but are still mostly fun and a bit heartwarming here and there. The animation is top notch as usual from Wit studios. But why this anime has so much hype and why the ratings are so high is still not clear to me after watching the first season.
Akatsuki no Yona (2014)
Not bad, but far from good.
Review of the first 6 episodes:
Yona of the Dawn, like many anime, starts off a bit bumpy and struggles to introduce the story naturally. The first episodes were all quite predictable. All of the characters serve classic tropes and none really manage to stand out. The animation style is solid for the most part, but the characters are very uncreative and one-dimensionally drawn.
All in all, not bad, but far from being really good.
Edit: I've seen 2 more episodes and decided for myself that I'm not going to continue watching the series. It's definitely solid entertainment, but every aspect of the series I've seen better elsewhere. I'm pretty sure I know where the series is going and would rather spend my time on anime that surprises and excites me. Don't get me wrong, few will regret watching this anime, but few will be truly fascinated by it.
Castlevania: The Endings (2021)
Eyecandy, but nothing too special
Animation 9/10
Story 2/10
The fight was fun to watch, but this being the climax of this season was a major disappointment.
Tickled (2016)
Amazing Journalism, Absurd Topic.
A truly breathtaking documentary about one of the most peculiar complexes of topics you can possibly find. Really impressive research, risky journalism that is carried through to the end and truly absurd revelations. More exciting than most thrillers I've seen in my life. A recommendation for anyone who wants to dive into the most absurd dark corners of the world.
Blood of Zeus (2020)
Mediocre.
"Blood of Zeus" is a series that fascinated me with its idea. Fights between gods are actually always a guarantee for good entertainment.
I've watched the series now until the 4th episode and will probably not watch it again. The plot is too superficial, the characters are too generic and the drawing style is unfortunately only mediocre in many scenes.
None of the departments involved in this series did a very good job. There is a lack of feeling for the dialogues, the dubbing actors feel like underpaid students and the completely exaggerated, for many scenes far too epochal score makes it all even more ridiculous.
Everyone who dares to compare this series with Castlevania should be ashamed of theirself!
Dororo: The Story of the mercilessness (2019)
One of the best episodes i've ever seen!
I'm usually not a big fan of flash back episodes because they demystify and mostly in very unsuccessful ways. However, this episode is one of the best anime episodes I've seen in a long time! The story is moving and exciting, many moments are very emotional and the animation is absolutely fantastic!
