Rak ti Khon Kaen (2015)
Cemetery of boredom
Lost brain cells. I can't believe I spent 2 hours watching this garbage. A terrible movie in everything. Only for "smart critics" who think they found something interesting in this nonsense fairy tale.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)
1 star for animal cruelty
When Richard Fleischer was directing 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea he came up against a few problems. One of these involved filming Kirk Douglas and Peter Lorre being attacked by a shark.
"Since there's no way to work in the water with a live shark, the plan was to catch and kill one, then hook it up to a cable system so it could be pulled down through the water like a dive bomber. Everyone on the crew had a suggestion about how to kill a shark. The consensus was that you had to whack it very hard between the eyes with a ball peen hammer to kill its brain."
Days of Heaven (1978)
Animal cruelty for art
From the audio commentary of the Criterion release:
- Locusts were glued to the wheat.
- Animal rights people let you do that?
- They weren't around.
A huge amount of locusts were caught with a net attached to a jeep, for the scene in which they invade the crops and the workers try to get them away. They were glued to the wheat and a fire then ensues and you can see them getting burnt for a piece of art, filming the fire went out of controll causing more damage.
This movie is probably a masterpiece, its cinematography is one from the bests, however my rating is lower due to what they did for filming it.
Climax (2018)
Not for everyone
Gasper Noe's tour de force. A great movie that only liberals will not like.
Mandy (2018)
Not worth
This movie contains sequences of flashing lights and while watching it at dark I ended with my eyes hurting. So Im warning about this. lt could also be bad for photosensitive people.
Green Book (2018)
Not great
Planes, trains and automobiles, Driving Miss Daisy and many other movies with this theme, its not new.
The plot lacks a lot of point, its also repetitive and predictible. I was expecting a lot more considering its nominated for Oscar.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Audience have never been worse in rating
15th best movie ever made? Really?
Its a great movie but the best animation ever made?
Better than Spirited Away, Toy Story and Ratatoulle?
Better than Tokyo Story?
After Infinity War that got very overrated, now this.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Overrated garbage
From around 50 movies of 2018 this is the movie that made me agry watching. Probably because Ive seen Seven Samurai, Lord of the Rings, Mad Max etc and I cant agree that the level of action movies should fall in this level. From start to finish cgi was the only good aspect of this movies. Those who like it are probably teens. There was a critic who said this movie puts the Hollywood in danger and he is right. Critics gave this an average of 6.8 in Metascore, though it doesnt even deserve that.
Roma (2018)
This movie is incredible
Those who make bad reviews simply dont understand film. Roma is amazing, from the start and everything. The basis is not only the story but also art just like in La La Land and Cold War, while there are techniques of camera and shots and the way the movie goes that reminds the way old movies were made (those of Bergman, Ozu etc) with great work from director. Everything is almost perfect, we see a city of 1970 with cars and houses of its time, scenes that are too many to remember, soundtracs that never stop, cinematography that bring works in the whole movie, things that were happening like protest of students and them being killed, what Cuaron has probably seen in that time, and after all it is also about a family, the story goes on while we see dialogues and events of real life, making it a kind if Boyhood. Im comparing it with many great movies because I saw many of them in Roma. Its a masterpiece of Mexico and Hollywood is not being able to bring movies like this today. Sadly Roma will likely stop at best foreign due to Oscar politics.
Eighth Grade (2018)
Great movie
Im not going to write a long review but while being surprised with how much realistic this movie is I'm also surprised with so many reviewers saying it's unrealistic and impossible to relate. I feel like I just saw myself in this film, what I've been on in my school years is almost everything what I see in main character.
