Hell Night (1981)
Far from entertaining
I like horror movies, especially old ones. I don't care if the acting, or the story is cheesy as long as I enjoy the movie. But I found this one far from entertaining. The death scenes aren't anything to look at, there is barely any blood, and the suspense just isn't there. The whole movie is covered in darkness, half the time I couldn't see what's going on the screen, because there isn't any lighting. As hard as I tried, I just couldn't get into it, I forced my self to sit through the rest of it hoping it would get better, but there is nothing there. And that's a lot to say, when Halloween is just around the corner, and I was watching this at night with a couple of friends.
Nacho Libre (2006)
a heartwarming story with a little humor
I went and saw Nacho Libre with some of my friends. And I was actually pleasantly surprised. Let me start off by saying if you saw Napoleon Dynamite forget about it, this is a different movie, with an actual plot. Now that we got that out of the way, to put it simple, this movie is a story of a man trying to make a change for him and his orphans, and win the love of the woman of his dreams. As we follow his story you may or may not laugh along the way, but your kids certainly will.
I guess so many people bad-mouthed this movie because they expected something more, or just because it's done by the same director of Napoleon Dynamite. But I look at it as nothing more than a good, clean family-oriented movie that's just a little out of the ordinary with beautifully painted settings characters.
So if you find yourself bored on a rainy day, and you can't take your kids outside and play, take'em out to see this movie, you won't regret it. It's rated PG but I can think of only 2 scenes that could possibly not be suitable, one involving fecal matter(just stupid, not absurd), and one with crazy midget wrestlers that may be a little scary for kids under 6 or 8. Enjoy!

Simply put, not even Robin Williams could make this movie funny. If you do decide to go out and see this, it shouldn't be for it's alleged humor, but for the sad but true depiction of today's modern family. A good movie to compare this to would be Christmas with the Krank's, both of which deliver the same amount of stale jokes, and no character development. At no point during the movie did I even chuckle. I am not kidding when I say that I did not laugh the whole time I was there, it almost felt down right stupid. And Coming from a guy who laughs at incredibly stupid commercials this should mean something. I feel cheated out of my money and time. So don't take any chances. Sit down with your family, order a pizza, and rent a copy of National Lampoon's Vacation instead. Trust me on this one.
