Hot Rod (1979)
The Best Car Movie of All Time
From a genuine car enthusiast... this IS the best car movie ever made... and it was made for TV ??? !!!! wow !
Sure, some of the sound tracks are a bit silly, but the intent was there.
My favourite scene ? easy... The real life, real sound, stick shift burnout in the middle of the night !
My favourite quote ? easy... Brian Edison says, "You see, the secret to street racing is a mystery to most people.... if it blows up with a 4 barrel carb, go dual quads. If that blows up, inject it"
Jenny asks, "how far" ?
Brian replies, "Till it's an automatic.... which is boring".
The fact is, a stick shift IS faster, but that's the best TV gear head lines I've ever heard !
The movie is timeless, and it's unlikely that it will ever be out done.
A big thank you to ABC, for going out on a limb, and making this.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Sorry, One star is the lowest rating I was able to give it
The second worst movie I have ever seen ( The Shape of Water of course, being the worst of all time ).
INCREDIBLY childish, playing WAY down to the entire audience. Despertately tries to mesmerize with big lights, flash, and super "action sequences".... grossly over emphasized by the typical modern movie thunderous bangs and crashes.
Quite frankly, sitting through it, was torture.
Escape from Crime (1942)
WAY better than it's given credit for
That sums it up. Yes, fast paced, but I don't believe it has a convoluted plot. Definitely have to pay attention though !
Caught (2018)
No, it's not the plastic, artificial trash of Miami Vice
Ten leagues above it. I don't care what decade that the songs came out... where is it written, that every one of them had to have been released on the very day in time that is depicted ? Good music is timeless, and this TV show, of all things.... has the best music soundtrack EVER put to film, let alone television.
So, lay that to rest.
There's the multi-layered stories... none outdone by the incredibly compelling estranged relationship / inescapable feelings between Slaney and the lovely woman and her child.
There's the real to life characters. Paul Gross.... just ROCKS ! No, definitely not a perfect hero cop... a true imperfect human being.
My favourite television program of all time, is of course, "The Fugitive" from 1963 - 1967.
CBC's creation of "Caught"... is a VERY close second !
The Shape of Water (2017)
Could be the WORST MOVIE of ALL TIME
With the exception of the well acted vulnerability of the lead character.... EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of this movie, makes me sick.
In order:
(1) The entire look of the cartoon-like gothic colours, sets, background, and ESPECIALLY facial features of the characters.
(2) The over-the-top, obscene vulgarity of the main villian, is disgustingly portrayed as more than just a bad guy.... but an outright f#$&ing PIG.
(3) The COMPLETE absence of any explanation or lead-up to Alisa becoming attracted to the water creature.
(4) The COMPLETELY unnecessary scenes of the main character, nude, then in the bath tub... well... privacy, please. Admittedly, she is paralyzingly beautiful in the nude.... the scenes served no purpose, but to gain the attention of guys in the audience.
(5) The stereotyping of the black characters.
(6) Of course, there's the inexcusable neglect by the writers, to create a story that has ANY believability whatsoever.
I could go on and on..... but at this point, I choose to never give this film another thought.
