Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story (2024)
Left me wanting more
Entertaining, but left me wanting more. As a long time Bon Jovi fan (I attended their New Jersey concert in Gulfport MS in 1989) still one of the best concerts I've ever attended. I was so excited when I read that this documentary would be released in April. I was hoping for something a little more informative about the lives of each individual band member. Although I enjoyed this documentary, I didn't learn anything "new" regarding the band or Jon's philanthropy work (which I've always admired). I've also admired the longevity and happiness of Jon and Dorothea's marriage. I was hoping for more footage of their relationship. But I get it, this was about the band not the couple. I do hope they film a documentary regarding Jon's personal life. Actually, I think a movie about JBJ (such as Bohemian Rhapsody) would be very successful.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Awful
That's how I describe it, awful. When I asked my husband.what he thought about it he said "I don't know" I said I don't understand what that means and he said I don't know what to say about it, my mind is f'd from watching it and I can't process a thought at the moment.
We always try to watch all of the Oscar nominated movies each year. There have been several that we didn't really enjoy, but they were at least watchable. This movie is almost impossible to watch. We had to divide it in 3 nights because it was so awful. 20 minutes the first night then 30 minutes the second night, then finished it on the 3rd night, but had to take a break about 30 minutes into the 3rd night. I'm actually angry that we wasted our time on this garbage. We kept thinking and hoping that it would get better, but it didn't. We never would have watched this had it not won so many Oscars, I just don't understand how anyone could enjoy this migraine inducing mess.
Our advice is don't waste your time on this dumpster fire, it really is awful. I have no idea why it was even considered Oscar worthy much less all the nominations and wins.
The Shack (2017)
Don't waste your time
So unrealistic. So many plot issues...
First, the cops are aware that a man is in the area abducting, raping, and murdering little girls, but they don't give any warnings to the campers in the area. Second, the FBI finds the girl's dress and some blood stains on the floor of an old shack and that is supposedly enough proof that she is dead. Third, the mom doesn't seem to need closure at all. How can she so easily move on without finding a body and knowing for certain that her daughter isn't out there somewhere suffering? Is it really possible to let go of the murder of your child, because you believe that child is in Heaven experiencing everlasting joy? The dad has a hard time moving on, but it's because he's angry at God(hence the entire point of the movie) Lastly, the comparisons to condemning one of your children to hell and god letting his children do evil things is asinine.
Unprecedented (2022)
Nothing new
If you paid attention to the Trump clan at all over the last 7 years then you already know how they are. If you paid attention to the 2020 presidential election of Joe Biden, and Trump's refusal to admit defeat, then you already know how it played out. This supposedly groundbreaking documentary revealed absolutely nothing new.
American Skin (2019)
Do yourself a favor and watch this movie!
One of the most powerful movies we've ever watched, it's extremely thought provoking. How this movie has not received more attention, and awards, is mind boggling.
