Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959)
An Irish storyteller captivates his town with his fantastical stories. Then he finds himself in the middle of one of his favorite stories -- he captures the Leprechaun King!
Oh, I loved this movie! I love the King turning into a rabbit, and I love all the little men!! This is truly a classic!! I loved the fiddles. I both loved and hated the Banshee. I used to have the worst nightmares about that Banshee. My brothers used to hide in my closet and scream like that in the middle of the night, and I would freak out!
Definitely not a movie if you're into wonderful special effects, but if you're looking for a hilarious, fantastical movie this is the one to see!
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this movie? I have looked in all of our local movie stores and can't find it.
The Wickedest Witch (1989)
Sammy the Greevil summons Lewis to an underground world where Lewis meets a witch who must get him to commit one despicable deed or suffer another 100 years banishment.
I watched this movie for the first time when it originally ran, and I loved it. My dad taped it on one of those old Beta-Max tape decks that disappeared after like two years. Lol... But I love this movie!! Sammy the Greevil is great! I've been wanting to see it again for about six years now, but I can't find it anywhere!! I love the story line, and it's all about imagination for a kid!! I remember watching this along with "The Halloween that Almost Wasn't", "Buttons and Rusty: Which witch is Witch?" and "Halloween is Grinch Night." I really miss those old shows. It's a shame that TV stations don't show the old stuff anymore.
