Underwhelming and boring as the proverbial bats***
12 September 2022
Nothing to see here you haven't seen before. Predictable and uninspiring. You could make much better use of the free time you have and forgo this exercise in boredom. One thing it has going for it is that it's a prime example of mediocrity.

A cliched storyline and wooden acting is what you will find here unfortunately, even though Fox does his best to engage the audience and bring his character to life, it's not enough to save extreme boredom from setting in. You will do well to make it through one episode, never mind two for that matter.

Some beautiful cinematography of the desert and the opulent palaces of the top 1% may be enough to engage your commodity fetishism but won't save the show.

Ultimately you would be better off rewatching Better Call Saul or Reacher and saving yourself from this massive cinematic Valium pill!

Entertaining

Reviews would have you believe this is much worse than what it is. Yes, the story really requires your suspension of disbelief but once you acquiesce to that, it's an entertaining ride with a protagonist who can really relish some good old fashioned violence while giving those in his way the middle finger!

Engaging cerebral slow burn detective thriller

Bill Pullman's Ambrose is a fascinating character, deftly fleshed out and envisioned in this series of unique crime mysteries. Season 4 is particularly good. Watch and relish as you follow Ambrose on the hunt for truth and Justice in a small New England fishing town. Excellent performances all round supporting Pullman.

Competent thriller/horror with folk horror overtones. Not groundbreaking in any way but nevertheless some very unique and interesting ideas. Great acting and sensational cinematography. The narrative kept the origins of the box murky which added to the mystery and suspense. The "house" was wonderfully imagined and contributed to the ambiance. A few traditional jump scares but they didn't detract from the film. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it.
