White saviour admonishes the clueless savages.
1 April 2024
I had misgivings about an Indigenous film named "The Convert" for righteous reasons.

There's Nothing like watching The Crown's fueling of a 20 year civil war between Maaori to represent our entire history as the norm, from where we were navigating the oceans for 3000 years, using the coast as our former highway did we need the white saviour to arrive and teach us basic navigation.

At least the film didn't end with The Crown, to award us on our advancements in humanity with a knighthood as respecting parent.

It was also a relief in watching yet another white saviour in coming to our aid with our own medicine, to save us from ourselves.

7th season saw the return of greatness
26 March 2024
The seasons that followed after Axe left had several problems.

It didn't make sense, the story became a blah2 reading in suspended belief.

I had abandoned the 6th season for some time, until I decided to torture myself after seeing 7th season ratings in resuscitation.

After finally watching the rest of the 6th season, the end of the 6th season the premise was fixed, and set the theme of the 7th season we'll.

I am so glad that I had persevered, the 7th season made the show remain in my personal collection after pondering possible deletion.

I will certainly rewatch the show knowing the awesome retribution and ending.

Season 1 versus Season 2, the final episode it's saving grace
12 October 2022
Season 2 is using it's characters to tell a story, instead of showing a story with characters, this feels so hostile towards my intelligence.

But wait, that's not all,

Season two is the season where our favourite characters are no longer recognizable. Seven is no longer Seven, Soong is no longer Soong, Guinan is no longer Guinan, The Borg Queen is no longer the Borg Queen.

The writing for season two is so bad, that if the show is reliant on the characters to explain whats going on in every shot, there is something wrong with the shots, the telling could just have someone sit and tell it all, except that wouldn't be possible either as the writing is so bad.

Season 1 was epic and interesting, reliant on nostalgic well defined characters, and actors loyal with honest depictions, being very enjoyable to observe.

The final episode is it's saving grace.

Ridiculous
3 June 2021
The fact people have been circumnavigating and praying the 5 obligated prayers continuously at the same location unbroken.

The stories given in the Quran, and by the prophet,, explain in great detail the physical landmarks around the 'Kabah' (Tabernacle), such as the well of Zamzam, and the meteorite at the corner, now how could he explain the Zamzam well for water? Physically, why would a city be built away from the greatest source of water known since Abraham? If one was to read in Arabic, the book about the 1000 benefits of Mecca, one would see that it's location remains the same.

Watch the second season!!!
16 October 2020
First season was random all over the place, and looked like no planned story at all. Second season, reward after reward and severel character development wins, glad I didn't surrender and persevered, worth ten stars!

Later, Clarke and John form a relationship, and are shocked to discover her pregnancy, realizing that they had been duped by the genocidal hologram, whom they had no reason to believe in the first, was in fact bluffing in order for willing acceptance to 'ascend', that the dead are still dead, the ascended friends are in a computer program, at place to be determined. Dialogue problem

Sounds like the voices are not there own, like the voices don't match the faces, but maybe it's an effect, but it makes it really hard to watch, as I'm too busy wondering whats going on with the voices...

Childrens movie
4 September 2020
After careful examination, I have reduced my 10, to a 5 due to discovering the unfortunate ethical issues surrounding the film and credits, and the opinions voiced by the lead role. This is a difficult film to rate due to the contemporary politics of the day, which is too loud for to be able to give it any higher than a 5*

*Cultural genocide in the region of filming, approval of treaty abuse by the lead star, assimilation practices over various peoples, language loss which carries capital culture.

Previous review:

There are plenty of adult views, as if expecting adult drama and themes, with blood and heavy action, when It' a 'PG-13', designed for children 13 years old.

I also don't get the comparison of the old animated cartoon, which was an appropriation and theft of another cultures mythology, and this is for today's children.

This is an excellent movie and encouragement in a patriarchal world informed by imperialist powers, of both internal and external colonialism, where women have found themselves in an unnatural hierarchy, of control, as comes with the commoditization of the natural world.

It's excellent...

I actually enjoyed this... Yes, some of the actors seem inexperienced, but the character positions must be difficult to portray and convey in such short spaces...

I can't help but admire the rare Indigenous worldview positions which are slight, which I have never seen on TV before...

Plotless, valueless and uninteresting
12 December 2018
A movie that is impossible to spoil with spoilers, as there are none. This was a strange film to watch, as It's missing a story. You could simply go to any random lobby for a minute, proceed to a department store for a minute, enter a clothing store for a minute, visit a jeweller for a minute, done. Actionless, Dramaless, Emotionless, Purposeless.
