The movie presents a good background story for the dull, bleak life of a woman. And that's it. I kept waiting for the plot to unfold, but it kept being monotonous and uneventful. Atmosphere is perfectly depicted and conveys the message of a lack of meaning and means of exiting the depressing reality. But it does it for the sake of doing that and only that. Storywise the film has almost no value to me. It's like a beautiful landscape painting. The worst part is that although having the most boring storyline ever, it leaves nothing to the imagination. The characters don't speak, not because you have to figure out their feelings and intentions, but because there is really nothing to tell. Acting is on par with that. Everyone has the same facial expression throughout the movie, no matter what is happening. If there is a funny, joyful or sad moment, you will see the stillness of their faces persists at all costs.

The movie is a good time-burner, but that's all it is. It tries to be many things, succeeds in almost nothing. As a Marvel movie it fails, because it has nothing to do with the MCU that we know of (I'm aware that it's comic-based, I'm talking about the movies, and even so - it doesn't have anything to do with heroes and villains, with Earth or cosmic events). As a horror/scary/dark movie it fails, because it also tries to be comedic and goofy. As a tribute to oldschool/retro movies of this genre it fails, because its too in the face, tries too hard. Story is full of unexplained and unlogical details to say it gently (they are actually plot holes). Many things happen just so a moral lesson can be conveyed to the viewer but are simply absurd and not believable. The motivation of the characters remains hidden, their background is non-existent. Yes, it is a breath of fresh air for Marvel, but not the one I needed nor expected.

I believe this movie deserves to be defended from all the harsh critics. Yes, it has plot holes, the backstory is not very original, it's not really believable at some points. But the movie was damn fun and exciting to watch! It's packed to the brim woth adventure, comebacks, wholesome and hilarious moments. I am on a Marvel marathon (not in order) and this is one of the very few movies that I'm giving a 7/10 rating. It just gived me that feeling I'm searching for in that kind of films (not a huge fan of the genre) - the same that I had as a kid watching Power Rangers, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, etc. Just when you think you've seen all tge tricks up it's sleeve, it manages to surprise and/or excite you in a new, peculiar way. Is it what a Marvel/superhero movie should be - supposedly no. Is it worth your time if you're after some good entertainment - definitely!
