Star Wars: Visions: Aau's Song (2023)
Strong Ending for A Good Second Season
From all the shorts seen in this second season; this one seems one of the most "complete" stories so far.
Produced by the South African studio TriggerFish, what they have achieved here were stunning visuals, backgrounds, textures, even with very cute characters and a story simple enough to fit in a 10 to 15 minutes story, which felt like the first episode of an entire season. This short feels a lot like just an introduction of a much larger narrative.
For being a short film, they managed to have these slow moments where you only enjoy the enviroment or the main character reacting to the place where she lives, but then in the action moments, they really pulled off some very dynamic camera angles that really drives you in, and the animation slaps.
Having these little packed stories is a hurricane of fresh air outside the well known Skywalker arc, and very welcome into the Star Wars universe.
Looking forward with great expectation whatever comes next if there's a third season.
Star Wars: Visions: Journey to the Dark Head (2023)
If there's an entire anime made out of Star Wars, this is the one
Studio Mir made an excelent job in direction, storytelling and likable characters in just 18-ish minutes. Not even mentioning the outstanding art direction and animation. They really pulled off the best they could do here.
If there's ever a show or movie (trilogy even) using the particular anime style, this right here is how it should look like. Don't get me wrong, I love Studio Trigger and what they did in Season 1, but seeking for the right tone and pacing that a story, such as Star Wars requires; Studio Mir simply nailed it.
Just imagine what a canon limited series (12 or 24 episodes) based on Knights of the Old Republic in this style and direction could look like.
Arcane: League of Legends: The Base Violence Necessary for Change (2021)
It's been a while since I felt this
Like many others, I have never played this game. But man this shows slaps! Every shot has its weight. The art direction is outstanding. The story caught me from the very beginning,, even when I don't understand many of the references and layers that only fans will get.
I had goosebumps during most of the second and third act of this episode. Something it's been a long time since the last time I felt while watching/listening/reading any kind of media.
Like Arrows (2018)
I'm christian, but this movie is awful, as a movie
I'm giving this movie a 4 out of 10 because the message was great, an important message that needs to be told.
But the biggest problem with this movie is the movie itself. It's a story told as a preach and not as a movie. Too many time jumps. Everything happens so quickly that you don't have time to feel empathy with the couple or their children, nor the whole movie itself.
Everyone cries at the end because of the cards that the characters are reading, not because we saw them actually going through those phases and actually seeing the consequences.
