Angel Has Fallen (2019)
Action Packed
This is a must see movie! I don't see how this franchise and Gerard Butler has hasn't earned more money than this. Yes I new who did it in the first 15 mins, but it doesn't change the great acting, action, and characters. By the way, there were only 2 instances of noticeably questionable CGI, but it shouldn't matter since it had less than 15 seconds of screen time.
Tales (2017)
Great Series!
I just learned about this series by accident and was pleasantly surprised! Each story/episode is separate from the other, meaning NONE of the characters, plot, setting, or tone carries over to other episodes. There are some episodes that were corny or I didn't get. Those were mainly the ones with reality stars with bad acting. The ones that are good, ARE REALLY GOOD! Deep Cover from season 2 had nice ending twists that had me saying, "WTF!". But I like those types of shows. Now don't go off and watch Deep Cover because of me and you're looking for the plot twist, then it won't have the same effect and you might not like it. Now, I loved the 1st episode once I watched it all the way through. At first I read the episode summary and skipped around scenes and thought it's wack from my biased black person point-of-view. Then I told myself, "You're bored with nothing else to do, so have an open mind and watch it anyway." As I watched the movie, I appreciated the different perspective. When I removed my personal bias the only message I got was if someone is minding thier business and not hurting anyone or breaking laws, let them be. Don't create a situation.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Just Horrible
This was the most boring X-Men movie I've ever seen! The female playing Jean Grey is so bad and emotionless. She should continue doing the Thrones-like shows that don't require much. The entire story negates the older X-Men stories which I loved. This current version is has bad acting all around. The movie was pointless and I will act like it doesn't exist.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Let it End
Loved the first 2 movies, but this one not so much. Just stare at Wick in some of the fight scenes and let your eye loose slight focus, and you'd see he's not really moving; its the other actors around him flailing wildly. By the 2nd half of the movie, I felt, "been there done that" with what I was seeing. Nothing was new or surprising. Every killer is a bad shot except Wick? Highly unlikely when they are all assassin's too. Those assasins would be pretty broke if they couldn't land a shot. Wick doesn't move faster than bullets, nor is he hitting any Matrix moves on them by back-bending or stopping bullets in mid-air. Now the fight scenes just feel impossible for a slow moving guy with what appears to be a former club foot hobbling around.
Captive State (2019)
Enjoyed a New Take on Alien Rebellion
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Be sure to read/listen to the beginning backstory to understand the setting. I would have been lost without it. Just from that beginning I knew I was in for a different ride. The movie made me think about why things played out like it did and it all made since. I was exited internally for the ending and was thinking, "F*$k yeah, get them SOB's!" I hope the movie does well, because I'd love to see where the story could lead. There are so many mysteries! This movie makes you think a little so, viewers who only like action, gore, and lots if creatures onscreen may be disappointed. This movie is more-so for the strategists and thinkers.
Mr. Church (2016)
Unexpected Pleasure
I'd never heard of this movie and happened upon it on network TV. I couldn't get into it the first time I tried to watch it because it wasn't funny. However, I decided to sit through it and give it a fair shot. It was never meant to be a comedy and was actually a good. The acting was performed very well and I actually cried at the end. I'd always enjoyed Eddie Murphy's films, but I forgot he can act well in serious non-comical roles. I definitely recommend this movie because I enjoyed it.
Stormy Weather (1943)
Best Dance Rountine Ever!
Watch even if it's only for the incredibly talented and spectacular dance routine by the Nicolas Brothers! BREATHTAKING!
Marlon: Wingman (2018)
One of the Funniest Episodes All Year!
This episode had me crying-laughing! Marlon's show gives that MARTIN sitcom feel. Meaning there are plenty of jokes about one's self and there friends, and no one takes it too personal and dish it right back. The male friend 's outfit is the last look, but I loved how he joked about the ridiculousness of it (my shoes are tight and my ankles are cold)! Lol. The jealousy of the exwife watching her exhusband pick up a lady was super funny with a climatic response. The repore between the 2 best friends is classic giving off the Pam/Cole from Martin vibe, they stay going at each other!
White Famous (2017)
This is A Great And Relatable Show, to Some
I can totally relate to this show's topics and humor! The interaction between the lead character and his best friend really does happen where I'm from and no one is offended because friends are supposed to be honest and keep you grounded. The joke of the agent having the hots for his client's child's mother is supposed to be repulsive where the lead snaps back at him. Because that's what will happen where I'm from. Unfortunately, the individuals who rated this show low and unfunny, will never find this funny, because this show, topic, and humor most likely wasn't meant for you to get as being funny. I think this was meant to show how we really feel about you and how much of a joke you are to us and we don't take you seriously. It's kind of like how I watched Martin growing up, while you watched the unfunny Friends. We didn't take Martin seriously and knew is was just jokes and urban humor, while you watched Friends and totally loved that a girl would sleep around and date best friends and it not be considered nasty. So if you don't get White Famous' point, then consider the first episode, where the lead said he doesn't want to be 'white' famous, when he's OK being 'black'. In other words, the show has nothing to prove to outsiders, it's the outsiders who want to be proved to. These episodes are cleverly written and totally smart.
