Monster (2022)
Yes to Evan Peters acting
Peter Evans is a masterful actor. I wanted to watch this series as I love American Horror Story and in my opinion Evan's work in AHS is outstanding. The problem for me with this Jeffrey Dahmer series is that is it based on true events and quite frankly it makes me feel extremely uneasy for myself and the victims and their families on seeing how a psychopath stalked and killed his prey. Do I really need to know these details in my life for entertainment? No I don't and that's why I stopped watching it. Jeffrey was an extremely sick individual and putting his sickness on tv for others to emulate or marvel over is quite revolting. If you like feeling Ill from watching how a monster destroyed lives then you will probably rate this higher than I did.
Luxe Listings Sydney (2021)
Selling Sunset for Australia
I see what they are trying to replicate here with the success of Selling Sunset. I actually don't mind the series there are a few good characters such as Simon and his team and D'Leanne and then a few ego driven characters that make the average person cringe. Light easy viewing that showcase Sydney's mansions for those who would never otherwise have the pleasure.
Blackpink: Light Up the Sky (2020)
Taught me about K Pop but was boring
I think if you're a fan of this group or music genre you will rate this documentary highly but I didn't find the story line all that interesting nor the back stories of each member. It was interesting learning how manufactured these groups are and I respect the hard work that the girls put in. Would I watch this if I wasn't a fan? Nah don't waste 1 hour and 19 minutes of your spare time, surely you can find something better.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Definitely not scary but a love story
Enjoyable but drawn out and a bit slow. A love story for sure, not scary at all more about grief. Very different to the Haunting of Hill House so don't go into it expecting the same. Looking forward to the gothic horror story they might produce.
Hamilton (2020)
No wonder I've never heard of this musical before
As an Australian I found the story line really confusing and uninteresting. I mean, it would be like making a musical about one of our old Prime Ministers and expecting other nations to get it. The diction within the rap was hard to follow and monotonous which didn't help with trying to follow the story line and made it unsatisfactory to the ear and I say this as regular rap listener and lover. I'm sure it will be beloved by some Americans but If they are planning to tour this musical in Australia I wouldn't bother as I certainly wouldn't waste my money going to the theatre to see it.
Wasted 30 minutes of my time watching it so can't say how it ends or if it gets better..just felt like hard work..next!
Ozark (2017)
Fantastic
I was looking for a series after GOT and I found it in Ozark. Binged watched now can't wait for the next season.. highly recommend!
The Baby-Sitters Club (2020)
Close to the books
Pretty good watching and from what I can remember the story lines are close to the books so if you read them in the 80s/90s I think you will enjoy. Bought back a specific feeling I had when reading the books. Some topics are discussed that a prevalent in this day and age which could bring on thought provoking conversation between you and your tween...or not.
Legends of the Fall (1994)
Beautiful movie
This movie is thoroughly enjoyable, I don't know why it took me so long to watch it!
Everybody's Everything (2019)
Enjoyably sad and melodic
I don't even listen to this artist but I wanted to watch this documentary because my 15 year old son has told me about him. Wow. Such as great movie. Sad for various reasons, however I feel like Lil Peeps story was told in a beautiful way and his grandfather narrating definitely assisted with this.
It also gave me an understanding of the music genre. I like how the music is melodic. I think if there is a lesson for anybody it is that too much of something is never good for anyone, particularly when you are not in the emotional space to handle it. It must have been so hard to trust the people he had around him especially after his father abandoned him.
