Loki (2021)
The Dark World is better
An interesting premise with unlimited possibilities is largely wasted by boring direction and cinematography, and uninspired writing. I can't think of a single time the cinematography was used to tell the story. Tom Hiddleston is great as expected, but held back by mediocre writing.
The only episode that actually uses the shows great premise to be entertaining is episode five, which is followed up by one of the dullest climaxes in the MCU history.
Thor: The Dark World is more watchable and at least has emotional beats significant enough that Endgame revisited it to great effect.
And Alligator Loki should've had a bigger role.
Mortal Engines (2018)
Imaginative and Exciting
I don't care what the critics say, I found Mortal Engines to be an imaginative, exciting, and very enjoyable. I liked Hester, and I also really liked the character of Tom. The social effects and CGI were amazing! The acting was top notch. Hugo Weaving did a terrific job! As I haven't read the book, the twists and turns caught me by surprise. I'd like to see it again in theatres, and will definitely be buying it when it comes out on blu-ray. The imaginative world the story takes place in really makes the movie feel fresh and is very interesting. I recommend Mortal Engines to all who want to watch an exciting, new, and relatively clean adventure film. Two thumbs up.
Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer (2018)
The most powerful drama of the year
I saw "Gosnell" on the opening day, and I have to saw that it is probably the most powerful drama of the year. The movie doesn't preach on the issue of abortion, it tells a story. A true and very chilling story of a sick, wicked abortionist who is "America's biggest serial killer." Very good acting and overall filmmaking quality. Exceptional film. HIGHLY recommended.
On Wings of Eagles (2016)
An excellent and touching film about Eric Liddell.
We had to drive 1.5 hours to see this film, as it was only in one theater in our state. The drive was totally worth it!!! On Wings of Eagles is a very high quality film, with production value, sets, acting, and special effects that could compare to most Hollywood flicks. Joseph Fiennes' performance was very strong and believable. His acting talent carried this film, just as it did in Risen. The story is very moving and inspiring, and is a great sequel to Chariots of Fire. I was very excited to see this on the big screen and hope that many people will be inspired by it. Several scenes with blood give it its' PG-13 rating, but the violence is not disturbing or overly graphic. This is a great film that is worth watching! My rating: Excellent!!!
