Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Don't bother
Yet another in a line of let down's. Maybe our expectations were too high from the masterpiece of the original trilogy. To give credit where it's due, the special effects were great. But as for a believable storyline. Anakin Skywalker, being trained by to of the greatest Jedi's in Obi Wan and Yoda, is so very easily led over to the dark side? He's had what, 7 or more years of training by the top masters, and it only takes a 5 minute conversation with the Senator to convince him to turn his back and go over the the dark side? Talk about a disappointment. And to make it even more unbelievable, Yoda, the arguably greatest of all Jedi's, can't sense a plot against the Jedi order that involves, oh, well, MILLIONS of weak minded stormtroopers? I'm embarrassed to say that I spent my money to watch this movie, but I did.
Teenage Exorcist (1991)
Cheese at it's best
Whether you're a Brinke Stevens fan or a fan of cheesy horror movies, this is the one for you. An actually entertaining movie that'll keep you laughing all the way through it. Unlike the parody movies of today that are just one stupid joke after another, Teenage Exorcist at least takes it's humor somewhat seriously, while not being afraid to poke fun at itself or the genre. Horror fans will be pleased to see the inclusion of Michael Berryman, who gives a rather comedic performance. And, of course, we can never forget the beautiful Brinke Stevens. Who, as it turns out, wrote the screenplay for this movie. Highbrow humor it's not, but it's a thousand times better than the fart joke mentality of todays comedies. One of my top ten favorites.
Chainsaw Sally (2004)
A Horror Heroine We Can All Be Proud Of
I went into my first viewing of this movie with high expectations, and I was not let down. Sick, twisted, and violent, but in a way everyone can relate to. Sally does the things we all wish we could do, but would be arrested for doing. Rather than being the villain, one finds oneself cheering her on. It would take a very prudish person not to appreciate at least some of the humor. The production quality was well above that of most independent movies, and above a good percentage of Hollywood big name movies as well. A very well developed script, characters that are more believable than the cardboard cutouts in most big production movies, and a healthy dose of therapeutic psychosis makes this a movie well worth multiple viewings.
