Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Carbon copy of previous movies
This is a blatant carbon copy of previous movies. The story is so predictable that all you need to do is to watch 30 seconds of the first trailer and you have got everything that is going to happen. And I mean not just broadly, but you can also guess every single characters dialogue, Everything. This is not moviemaking, any band of amateur, could've written the script. It is so pathetic that AI could've come up with a much more creative plot characters, photography script. JJ Abrams is the worst director in history, having simultaneously destroyed, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Boy caught anything written by or associated with JJ Abrams, from now and onto eternity.. thank you.
Sex/Life (2021)
Touches on an important subject
Society still lives under the fantasy that human nature is monogamous. It is not. This story is so common, and yet nobody questions the family structure. The visceral repulsion of so many reviews here only confirms the pain. That's so many adults feel being trapped in standard matrimony, with its notorious fading eroticism, any of disconnected from their own sexuality. Instead of dismissing the story as juvenile, irresponsible, etc, for the first time face this question as adults: with the courage to ask the difficult questions. Why so many marriages and the divorce, ones that don't leave the couple codependent and unhappy?
Longest Third Date (2023)
Nice
Boy and girl with similar IQ levels. She realizes the guy in front of her is different than past boyfriends. She thinks he's cool, when, in reality, he is vlogging. They realize they don't have to actually communicate feelings in order to get a superficial relationship to work. They work out long enough to get a Netflix special. Voila!
Seriously though, maybe this reality movie has a deeper meaning: if you want to make a relationship work out, do a few things. 1. Have low expectations about what you want in your partner. 2. Lock yourselves inside. 3. Drink a lot. 4. Have similarly primitive communication skills.
The Back-up Plan (2010)
Laughably bad
Probably the worst Jennifer Lopez romcom. Unremarkable acting performances make this poorly written script come dead. Unfortunately this movie probably made a lot of acting couriers stagnate and drift away.
The Shannara Chronicles (2016)
Cancel it
Now. Sorry but there is only so much 15 year old dialogue we can take.
Mars (2016)
Bad Science, Satisfying S2 Finale
Lots of bad platitudes by interviewed guests in the "documentary" part of the show. Zorkin as always turns off people who may be enthusiastic about Mars. Greenpeace nuts still think things gets resolved with passive-aggressive tactics, Elon says he wants to go to Mars but is really there to promote his company, Newt Gingrich is there to enrage just about everybody with his unfettered display of being one of the Earth's truly gigantic. One of the only sensible voices is Ann Druyan.
The plot is a bit petty and ordinary. The technology they display in the year 2035-45 is laughable and hilariously overblown. A better approximation is more like the technology from 2100. Scifi writers never cease to disappoint there. I was about to give up but glad I stuck to the end because the finale is very satisfying.
