Hi no tori: Eden no sora (2023)
Strange nostalgia
I can't quite put my finger on it but somehow the style and storytelling of this mini series evokes childhood memories.
This is clearly a new show, but the colors and the themes and the scope and the sense of adventure unfolding makes me feel like a kid again.
It makes me think of the magic adventures of Mumfie, that I used to watch as a kid, and the sensation of trying to make sense of not only what you see but how you respond to it. And what it makes you feel.
The music is incredible, and there's plenty of beautiful animation artistry on display (except some brief 3D stuff that is, as most of the time, out of place).
Strong recommendations!
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Carson Kressley, This Is Your Gay Life (2023)
Wow, just wow - wholesome and hilarious
I have a hunch that this will go down as the most memorable episode of this season, and one of the highlights of the franchise as a whole.
The episode grows subtly, starting out kind of like any other, but as soon as the roast starts we are in for a treat until the very end.
It's not only a hilarious episode but also very touching; we get to witness moments of tangible growth for Jimbo, as well as for Jessica Wild. Not just in regards to this season but also considering their respective journeys in the Drag Race franchise so far.
And on top of everything hilarious and wholesome going on, we get to enjoy RuPaul clearly almost losing his wits towards the end of filming.
This type of magic happening is why we come back, again and again. Cheers!
Canada's Drag Race: Prom (2021)
Important for the community
Sometimes the stars align and pure magic is derived from within the format of Drag race. This is one of these extra special rare episodes.
I'd say, too, as others have that this is probably the best episode across any season / format / version of the show.
Do yourself a favor and watch this!
