One of the best musicals ever (with amazing dancing)!!
29 May 2019
I'm writing this in May 2019, long after this movie came out. I've seen this movie well over 25 times and I still love it. There is not a bad thing to say about it. Julie Andrews is sublime as usual, and that voice...so sad we'll never hear it live like that again. I've been in love with Robert Preston since Music Man & Lesley Ann Warren was my girl crush when I was a kid watching Cinderella.

BUT, my absolute favorite thing about this movie besides the music is the incredible dancing and choreography. So sad it wasn't recognized with Ny award.

What's even sadder is that kind of amazing dancing is never seen anymore. That's real dancing! I enjoy a lot of the current dancing and enjoy the TV dance shows, but this movie harkens back to the days of a real musical-the total package!

Audrey Hepburn not a dancer-wrong!
22 May 2019
Finally saw this movie for the first time. The only Hepburn movie I hadn't seen, and loved it.

I just finished reading the new biography about her, Dutch Girl. It doesn't focus much on Hollywood, movies or the theater but on her terrible life during the war. For those who left reviews saying Ms. Hepburn wasn't a dancer, they might be interested to know she was a classically trained dancer. I recommend the wonderful, insightful book. A whole new side, the real side, of Audrey Hepburn. She endured such horrors from the war but never dwelled on them in public, but I think they made her in to the amazingly giving person she became. It was written with the blessing & some help from her son. I also loved the movie-fun!! Hepburn at her finest.

Where is Miss Wilhelmina Coke??
14 January 2019
Looks like this season will be more serious with palace intrigue. I don't see Mr. Francatelli & Skeritt being able to marry. I don't think she'll want to leave the queen. Feodora kind of gives me the creeps. Will be interested to see where her story goes. I'll muss Diana Rigg though. She added much needed levity but was also very wise and caring. Order if we'll see Ernst & Harriett again, but my burning question is, where is Lord Alfred's fiancée, Wilhelmina Coke? She was such a bright spot!
