I Want You Back (2022)
Cute cheesy rom com
This movie has good chemistry between Charlie Day and Jenny Slate. It's one of those classic feeling rom coms where you know the ending but you still want to see how they get there kind of thing. I will say the only small issue I had was certain scenes where Slate's character gets close to a middle schooler and drives the kid home without permission from his parents where they end up talking about sexual things (don't worry, it's not like that) as well as gives him her personal phone number to keep in contact with her...I don't know it just felt unnecessary and honestly a little creepy if this were a real life situation if that makes sense. I understand that they were setting it up to make her realize her true calling as a guidance counselor, but they could have gone about it another way. I will say this, the ending was albeit cheesy but very cute. I walked away (from my couch) feeling that both Slate and Day deserve more leading roles in the future.
Dads (2019)
A sweet & heartfelt look into the modern ages of fatherhood
I originally started to watch this documentary thinking it would be an insiders look into the fatherhood of various celebrities, and while there are quips from many I was surprised to find that the meat of the documentary was instead a look into various everyday fathers from around the world. All in all I would recommend watching this with an open heart, because there are moments where you can feel these men's love and pride for their children. I definitely got emotional at times (although this could've stemmed from lacking a good connection with my own dad) and felt happy for my own future in parenthood.
Chuck (2007)
My favorite of favorites
I've seen my fare share of amazing shows, Because I go out of my way to check out most new pilots and series..and I can say no matter how many great shows top my lists of favorites Chuck takes the cake. The depth of the characters lives and the various genres that the series takes on with ease is amazing. That being said it is a show that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes comedy, romance, suspense, and action. It also has some great music, and pop culture references. Do yourself a favor and take a chance on chuck.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Cute story of female empowerment. Pay no attention to the whining boys.
So many 1 star reviews for a movie they more than likely didn't watch. Speaking for myself I actually watched this opening night and let me tell that it was cute and had funny moments. Will it win an oscar or a best movie award? Probably not. But the acting and the girls alone out weigh the cons. All I'm saying is that this movie deserves a chance. So don't take these childish comments from people butt hurt over women or their hard work.
Jexi (2019)
No. Just no.
They could have done so much with this premise... and instead turned it into a garbage heap of over the top downright stupid humor with no true punchline. One of those wait for Netflix/redbox films at best, because at least during it you could zone out on your own phone if you so choose.
Unicorn Store (2017)
Larson's directorial debut is solid
Brie Larson has a strong wave of fans who are fresh off the captain marvel train in search of more films and television that includes their new favorite superhero. This film is a quirky great indie, which is a far cry from the mega millions investments that make marvel films what they are. However that's the point, this film is simplistic in the most creative way. Incapsulating the child like wonder and fear of failure we all as humans have felt at one point or another. I recommend watching this movie with an open eye, and understanding that there is more to it then simply wanting a mythical creature to come to life.
