The Voice (2011)
Love the show, except a few things
I've always loved the concept of this show since it has blind auditions, unlike other competitions that bases on who's going to be more watchable (their physical appearance). I have also liked all the coaches that has been on this show as they bring in new perspective.
However, voting is definitely hard especially if you're from the West Coast, and the fact that other voters tend to go for their favorite coaches is unfair. Also, I think the reason people are saying this show is becoming worst is because viewers are always going to be so picky when it comes to the coaches and so focused on hating on them that talents they represent are sometimes overlooked. Then goes on and on to complain when there's not much diversity in the show and saying this show is about the 'coach'.
All in all, show is GOOD IF you focus on the talents instead of complaining about the coaches, every coach that has ever been on this show were able to help aspiring artists in the best way they can.
Ingrid Goes West (2017)
a sad reality
Aubrey Plaza is such a versatile actor, doesn't matter which genre, she delivers.
I may have to disagree to the people saying this movie is glorifying a horrible person, and disregarding mental issues/promoting suicide. Ingrid may be an obsessive stalker who is good at manipulating people as she probably thinks this is the fastest way to befriend someone without revealing her true self, scared it will drive people away BUT it seems that the character only seek validation, acceptance, and clearly needs to stay in that recovery facility longer. Losing a grip on reality, she spends her time on social media and it's the place to create a world where everything in her life can look perfect, much like Taylor's seemingly "perfect" life in photos, most of what we see online is just a facade.
In the end when she exposed herself and posted the video, people were just showing empathy and support through commenting 'cause it is the only thing they can do, to which she saw later on. I think the message is people can have a second chance at life. This is where Ingrid can finally be her real self, she said that she wanted to change, so this is like her "reboot", being hopeful, knowing there are people out there who finally see her.
Also... I liked O'shea's character Dan, as he is an honest to goodness guy, what he's been through made him so understanding and accepting. He's a good batman!
Cunk on Earth (2022)
enjoyed it a lot
I don't think there was a line where I did not laugh because of this. About 5 minutes in the first episode and Philomena already had me spitting out my drink. It is actually my first time watching Diane Morgan and I can't believe what I've been missing out all this time. Her deadpan acting and ignorance is what makes this so witty. Also kudos to the experts for being cool about this and agreeing to be on this one knowing they're only going to be asked stupid questions.
What more can I say, this brutally honest mockumentary is just what I needed to get a good laugh. I do hope there's more like this soon.
Heathers (1988)
what is going on?
Decided to give it a go again because I remember I didn't appreciate this movie when I was younger, turns out I still don't.
Always loved the actors Winona and Christian, but.. hot take here.. this movie is boring, at least for me. It started off quite okay then it's all over the place. The lines and the acting were just so bizarre, I had to stop halfway just to read the reviews and since people are saying how great it was, I continued watching hoping it will somehow get better at some point or something but sadly it didn't.
The whole concept is actually interesting, maybe it was just a bad script, because I sure know what these actors could offer.
Bad Sisters (2022)
Brilliant
Started watching this when it only had 4 eps, I got so impatient and just couldn't wait every Friday that I decided to watch the belgian series it is based on, the 'Clan', I liked it BUT Bad Sisters is just freaking brilliant.
Such a wholesome series, its got mystery, drama, comedy, romance and so on. There weren't any boring scenes, and no filler for each episodes. Each and every character's story is entertaining to follow, yes even the prick's. Claes did a really good job at making people feel like punching their screen whenever he opens his mouth.
I recommended this to my brother and I ended up rewatching the whole series when he binge-watched. He also liked it, but he said he liked Eve Hewson more lol!
Cerdita (2022)
kept me hooked
Watched this without knowing anything about it, didn't even bother checking out the trailer. Surprisingly good, interesting and well-acted. I like how straight to the point it is, they just stick to the story and what's happening in the present. Although it'd be great if we see more of the guy, 'cause it felt like he was just there commit violence, all I know is he clearly doesn't like bullies and arrogant people so he somehow took a liking to Sara when he saw her being bullied. When the guy started abducting the three girls it kinda reminded me of JD from the movie 'Heathers'.
It's also nice that they didn't make the bullies change what they feel towards Sara right away and still calling her "Piggy" and an idiot while Sara tries to help them. This makes Sara be the bigger person (no pun intended).
All in all a good find, great actress. Would recommend.
MH370: The Plane That Disappeared (2023)
Watch if you like conspiracies
I can't speak for all but I find it personally disrespectful for the families of the people who were in this flight that they had to watch those theory scenarios. Nothing wrong with someone like Jeff Wise to want to solve this and help in their own way, who wouldn't want this answered?? But isn't feeding those scenarios to people who lost their loved ones will only make them go through grief and trauma again while others just profits from this?
Jeff Wise dominates each episode but nobody ever mentioned again about how some calls went through when they tried contacting people on the plane, like did the authorities even investigate the girl who said she received a call from her 'Papa'?
Still I hope this series would lead to a more thorough investigations. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy.
