A Near Perfect Horror Film
3 April 2019
I preferred Us to Get Out as it was more of a traditional horror film. To start, some of the issues in a lot of horror films are present here, ie characters making poor decisions. But I guess if they weren't to make those poor decisions, we wouldn't have the film. I like the comedic elements and the way they were interwoven into the story, although I did think there was a bit too much comedy present in the film. But those are my only gripes. Lupita, Winston, and the children all give a remarkable performance as both the good and evil side of themselves. I don't think I've ever seen a better performance from Lupita in fact. I will definitely be watching this one again soon. I feel it will be even better after a second viewing. 9/10.

Don't listen to the critics!
18 January 2019
If you're expecting a superhero film I would suggest waiting for the next Marvel film. There a few action scenes, but this is more of a dark psychological thriller. Great performances from all of the characters, particularly James Mcavoy as Kevin. I would've liked more of a focus on David Dunn. But it was worth it to have the main focus on the titular character. I felt more could've been done for the ending of this trilogy and some characters from the previous films didn't really need to make a return in this, but all in all I will definitely be watching Glass again, and I would suggest giving it a shot too!

Perfect for fans of Halloween

With the amount of terrible remakes in horror at the moment this film is a blessing. Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a killer performance as the lead. And Mike Myers was terrifying as he should be, definitely not someone I'd ever want to mess with. I even enjoyed the bits of humour in the film! Will definitely be watching this again soon.

Mixed Feelings
6 October 2018
There was quite a bit of publicity and marketing around this film, and I was excited to find some time to watch it with some close friends. However, the film was a bit of a disappointment for me. The Conjuring franchise is fantastic for horror fans, and this is a disservice to the world. The film had good sound and was shot quite well. I thought the special effects were done very well too. However it is one of those releases that fails to meet expectations and falls into the category of just another mediocre and cliched horror release due to the overuse of jump scares and a weak story-line. Also I don't feel as though the comedic relief worked in the film.

A huge letdown
11 August 2018
I've been looking forward to a film about slender man for a while now, but it is terrible. So damn boring with every cliche in a horror film imaginable thrown into one film. I couldn't take it seriously with all the terrible and illogical decisions from these girls. I almost slept in the theatre that's how bad it was. I didn't care about the characters, at all. Actually, I didn't care about anything at all. 2018's Bye Bye Man.

James McAvoy Carries This Film
2 July 2018
A fantastic performance by the film's star, James McAvoy is reason alone to watch this film. Every personality on display is distinct to the other, and he is so interesting to watch. Anya who was breath-taking in The Witch does a fine job here too. This is a film where M. Night Shyamalan reasserts himself as a serious director following a string of poor films. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel and the conclusion of the Unbreakable series arriving in January. 8.5/10.

Satire at it's finest

I went into this not knowing what to expect, and finished it pleasantly surprised. It' the first comedy I've seen so far this year that actually made me laugh out loud. The ridiculous characters in the film are all fleshed out and well cast. There were a few issues with pacing I noticed, and a period in the middle of the film where the laughs dried up a little but aside from that, this mockumentary is definitely worth a watch for fans of the genre. The "ending credits" were a personal favourite.

Terrifying

Could just be the best horror film this year. The actors were superb. Toni Colette was amazing as Annie. I was gripped early on, and soon unsettled by what I saw happening in front of me. This isn't your typical horror film filled with half a dozen jump scares, but a film which cranks up the tension until it reaches an unbearable conclusion. I can't wait to see what Ari Aster does next.

Fantastic Horror
14 May 2018
One of the best horror films I've had the pleasure of watching this year. Presenting a compelling story that stands out from most of the recent horror flicks I've watched so far. The only fault I could find in the film was it's ending (which I will not spoil). Ghost Stories is definitely worth your time if you're a fan of horror films. 8/10.
