Halloween Kills (2021)
It sucked but it was great
It was really brutal and really dumb. It was a lot like a cheesy '80s slasher and I loved it. Don't take it as seriously as it sometimes takes itself and you will have a great time, especially in a crowded theater.
Street Trash (1987)
I can't love it
I know it's supposed to be sleazy, I know it's supposed to be shocking and disgusting, and I really do love that stuff, but my god there is way too much rape in this movie. I like the melting, it's mostly entertaining, it's bizarre and disgusting in a good way until all the rape stuff. And as if a woman getting gang raped by homeless people isn't bad enough, apparently it brought back bad memories for the actress, which adds another level of nasty and screwed up. You don't need rape to make a movie disgusting. I like movies that are disgusting. But to me, it's not fun disgusting. It's just unpleasant.
Freaky (2020)
Very entertaining
This movie is about as much fun as the premise promises. Vince Vaughn's performance, despite maybe mimicking a stereotypical teenage girl rather than specifically Kathryn Newton (who's also great), is excellent. The gore is also outstanding if you're into that, every death is unique and very bloody. The only problem is that there are some parts of the movie that are so terrible I can't believe they were written by the same people. I think they stand out as being bad because the rest of the movie is so good, but there were moments that were so hammy and cringe inducing that I actually had to look away because I couldn't take it. It's very much a matter of personal preference, and it probably won't affect many other people the same way, but there was something about the distilled corniness of some scenes that just broke something in me, and I'm not sure why. Other than that, this is thoroughly entertaining and fun movie and it's definitely worth watching.
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
Guilty pleasure
This is a disgraceful movie that finalizes Freddy's transition into a cartoon. Any hint of scary Freddy that was left is gone. The characters all suck and the writing is awful, but it's SO entertaining. I wasn't bored for a second. It helps if you aren't sober, but either way it's far from a boring movie, even if it isn't a good one.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dee Day (2019)
One of my personal favorites
Though I think the show has started to fall off a little bit in the last few seasons, this episode is one of the funniest of the whole show. During the scene where Frank is pretending to be a valet and the scene where Dennis has no makeup I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. It's a very well constructed episode, with things being set up early on and paying off later, a plot that's more complex and reminiscent of the show's earlier seasons, and of course Danny Devito gagging and spewing saliva out of his mouth.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 3: Dancing Guy (2008)
Phenomenal
A very introspective piece, truly life changing. It has forever altered the lense through which I view the world.
Scary Movie (2000)
Guilty pleasure
For me, this movie is the definition of a guilty pleasure. It's incredibly mean spirited, it's one of those movies where it feels like the writers are probably very unpleasant people. A lot of the jokes are hammered into the ground until they aren't funny anymore. It's not a good movie. But at the same time, a lot of the jokes are genuinely funny. Even the really mean stuff you can't help but laugh at. Not really sure what to think of this movie.
F9 (2021)
Atrocious movie, I highly recommend it
1/10 movie with 10/10 entertainment value. It's so incredibly stupid, it's basically a comedy. It's like a parody of a bad action movie, the writing is horrible and everybody is invincible so there are no stakes.
