The Lumber Baron (2019)
Awful
Predictable plot with stilted acting. Resembled poor amateur theatre. Couldn't wait for it to end. Seven bucks down the drain.
Rih al-raml (1982)
A vivid and realistic Arab drama rarely equaled by anything here.
A heart-wrenching story wonderfully written, directed and acted. Vivid and real. I can't say enough good things about it. It's woefully under rated by this unappreciative North American audience. The little children are warm and amusing and lend a certain happy grace to the small world they live in. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this masterpiece!
Effie Gray (2014)
About the music
A number of us tried to watch this movie together. None of us heard a word of the prologue because the music completely overwhelmed the spoken words. It was not quite as bad in the movie proper, but loud enough to interfere with our enjoyment of what would otherwise have been a very enjoyable movie with a fine script, great acting, etc. If the music had been toned down we would have given it an 8.
