Soul Mates (I) (2023)
1/10
Hallmark and Saw have a baby, Soul Mates is the boring spawn.
24 October 2023
Truly not worth your time. The lead actors absolutely sabotaged the plot if this film. They were boring, weakly acted, and gave away the "twist" before I could even finish my popcorn. With the right actors and screenplay, this story should have worked.

The music they used in this film was agonizing, it was as if they found all royalty free instrumentals and used it in this film, which added to the cheese factor. This felt like a Hallmark decided to make their first horror thriller and it plays out exactly as you'd imagine. I kept watching the time on my phone, hoping the movie would end faster. I repeat do not waste your time.

What did the movie want to be?
4 March 2023
It's a shame when a movie makers have a fantastic story, actors, and setting to create something wonderful, and they throw it all away.

I'm not even upset with the amount of suspended belief I allowed to get into this story, it's the constant change in the narrative that made me want to stop watching,

The build up was good, and then when you get to final half of the movie, it feels so disconnected from everything they set up. It felt as if they had a bunch of wild ideas and they just went with it without ever thinking about the time of the of the first half of the movie.

All the love for indie makers, but for the love, make something that make sense rather than just trying to be different.

Terrifier 2 (2022)

A NEW HALLOWEEN CLASSIC!
19 October 2022
Years ago, I tried watching the first Terrifier. It was okay but I never finished it. I saw that part 2 was released and was surprised to see it in theaters. Then I saw the hype blow up on Twitter and TikTok, so I jumped in blindly.

It was everything and more! Gory, thrilling, exciting, spooky, funny, 80s slasher horror at its finest! The gore was so much fun. It feels weird to say but they just did it right. This is why we watch this type of horror! I had to look away at times but I always jumped back in.

I'll be going back to watch the first movie after seeing this movie. Amazing! I hope there is more to come!

Disappointing and Bland
28 October 2021
I had such high hopes for this series but simply put, the show isn't good.

-the dialogue, even for a teen drama, plays out like a Saturday morning special from 1998.

-it's constantly trying too hard -the story change isn't done well. The murder should have caused more chaos, instead the teens are walking around more focused on regular life stress, rather than, you, THE FACT THAT THEY KILLED SOMEONE.

-the lead actress doesn't hold the screen well -the lead boy that all the girls are crushing on is so far fetch.

Save your time and stay away, this is another show that will soon be forgotten.

Exciting, gut wrenching, and heart breaking.

Wow, I absolutely loved this movie. I haven't had such a visceral reaction to a film in such a long time. It's hard to explain what this film is, all I can say is don't miss it. Outstanding performances by everyone involved.

A Fantastic Good Time
13 December 2020
The movie plays like a stage show. Campy, exciting, story, songs! What a beautiful treat. I cried, laughed, and fully enjoyed myself. On top of it all, a beautiful reminder to continue building a space for ALL. I can't wait to watch it again.

Selena: The Series (2020–2021)

The show is a stretched out version of the movie. I barely made it through.

Christian who plays Selena was an AWFUL choice. Her portrayal makes Selena look air headed and like a secondary character. I cringed each time she spoke. Sometimes it felt like she was trying to be Jennifer Lopez as Selena.

Boring, horribly acted, and just not good.
25 June 2020
There have been times when movies take on a cliche storyline, and thanks to a great cast and new direction, the old journey is refreshing and fun to watch. This movie failed to do this completely.

My biggest complain was the cast. They were either too boring or over acted the roles. I also really hated how they used the high school teacher in this movie.

A waste of time. Don't bother.

Search Party (2016–2022)
10/10
Fun, different, and worth a chance!
22 November 2016
I just finished binging all 10 episodes on demand and I really enjoyed it. I think this is a show that is best experienced consecutively! The writers did write this show with the end in mind! Bravo! This show is hard to love at first because the satirical characters are hard to enjoy. This story soon becomes an exciting vehicle for character development. As the season continues, the characters and plot become really exciting. The season ender will leave you wanting more! The entire cast was great but Alia Shawkat is phenomenal! I could watch her for hours! .C. Framke from Vox sums up the show perfectly in her review when she says "While much of the show's first season feel needlessly twisty and jerky, the way the mystery eventually comes together while allowing for sharp observations about the show's characters speaks to Search Party being much more incisive — and worthy of a 10-hour marathon commitment — than it might appear at first glance"

Great movie, nice twist on the classic coming of theme
3 September 2012
I watched this movie last night and thought it was a great movie.

The movie starts off slow and a bit quirky. At times it even feels like it is trying to hard to be something its not. Then somewhere in the middle, it drops the quirky and the story develops. I became invested and began to care for the characters.

The acting was good. Both main actresses do a great job in their roles as mother and daughter. As an educator myself, I see these types of mothers and daughters almost every school year. It was nice seeing their story be told and also one from Latin roots.

I would recommend this movie because at the end of it all, you leave the movie with some thoughts and emotions tied to the characters.

Good film.
