Masterpiece of beauty
16 September 2008
From the first time I saw it, this film became my favorite, not only for its beauty or its message, but also for the quote of life in it. Once I read that your ultimate "favorites" (songs, TV series, movies) are those in which you can see yourself reflected, the ones about YOUR life. Well, this is MY favorite movie because I really mean it. Life for me has changed a lot these years, since 1999 everything has turned into something different, the thing I didn't know was that everything can change, but can continue being equally beautiful. Why I write all of these, well, last night I saw this movie again, after at least 4 years without even look at it, and I found it fascinating. It is not only amazingly well-done, it is also perfectly well-executed. The performances of Spacey and Benning are really touching, you can feel as she at one second, and as he at the other; you can really smell the quality of their acting, and suffer as you were them. The rest of the cast is incredible as well, you can really fear being an ordinary person with Suvary, or capture the beauty in life with Bentley. I truly recommend this movie principally because Mendes really did it, really realized a movie which made us look closer. An extremely well-production, captivating music and the most carefully ideal art direction constitute the cherry of this perfect cake of pure and simply beauty.

IncredibLe visual style
13 October 2007
I've just finished watching this movie. It was the second time and I only reaffirmed my first thought about it. VisuaL style. That's the key. And just a few minutes ago I read a comment (the only useful comment, by the way) which said something Like: "If we were interested in movies only for their story, we wouldn't be interested in movies at all...we would all read books instead." And I think that that summarize this movie. If it weren't by its visual appeal, probably the movie wouldn't be nothing. But this is exactly the important of this movie, it's not just visually rich, is way more than that, it's incredible in every possible way, a delight for the human eye. The colors are beautiful, the views simply amazing. It can touches your heart only by seeing a pair of takes. I wanted to comment this because I always thought that a movie could be value about its plot... or directly by its screenplay, but with this I realized that a movie can touch you only by its scenes, even when the dialogs look sometimes empty and the characterizations seem to be not the best of its actors. Whether you believe it or not, the message of this movie is really good. So if you like every kind of movie, I recommend you this. It requires courage to see it, sensibility to be captivate and intelligence to realize what is its mission in life. But if you make it, the result is very satisfying.

Obligatory stop to every film addict.
12 March 2006
This is one of the most beautiful movies in the whole world. We can see an extraordinary Marie Riviere playing Delphine in a simply but charming history about loneliness and life as we know it. This film teach us to not close our eyes to the real things and keep going to the future no matter how empty looks everything around us. This is an obligatory stop to every film addict in this planet because also has a great photography and an amazing screenplay, maybe the dialogs are not brilliant, however is made for captivate the sensitives souls; And there is a sequence when Delphine has a discussion about the meat that is just fabulous and is when you think, whoa! this is really a very impressive movie. Excellent.
