Happy Birthday, Harris Malden (2008)
Absolutely amazing! see it!
I just saw this tonight and I've gotta say that it could not have possibly been better as far as I'm concerned. It could be compared to something like Super Troopers, only this movie didn't need to use weed and compromising situations in order to be funny, don't get me wrong I love Super Troopers, I even liked Beerfest, but this movie was so much better!!!!
The camera work was very straight forward with a great awareness of composition, none of that Guy Ritche type over stylized shifty camera work (and don't get me wrong, I love that style, it just has no place being in this kinda film) the characters were flawless and incredibly entertaining, but what really made this one was the acting and just the overall delivery of the lines. All of the players had such great chemistry with each other, it was defiantly apparent that they had been acting together for a while by who comfortable they are with one and other when they say there lines...
See it the first chance you get, I believe that they said that it was available or was going to be available on some internet site, search it....
Two thumbs up! Amazing! And did I say it was quite possibly the best thing that I saw this whole film festival? because I think that it just might be!
Aozora no yukue (2005)
it was actually good!
this isn't really my type of movie but, i still really enjoyed it. it's about how 5 different girls relationships change and intertwine with each other when a guy that they are all close to announces that he's moving to the u.s. and also lets it slip that he likes someone.
while i personally don't typically care for the "haretworming" type of films, i really did like this one. the acting was very well done, and the story was strong enough to keep me interested up until the very end.
luckily for me, i started watching this movie without read the plot line... if i had read it i probably would have written this one off as a sappy chick-flick and moved on. So, you really shouldn't let the plot line, which seems so painfully simple, fool you. there were actually a few plot twist that i definitely didn't see come... all and all, i'd definitely say its worth seeing
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993)
i still love it!
this was a personal favorite of mine when i was young, it had everything that was great with 90's kids movies... lovable dinosaurs, cute kids, an eccentric villain, and a few great songs (and not the typical little mermaid/beauty and the beast type songs, but ones that are atually entertaining)! i ran into this movie again recently and i still love it as much as ever! i recommend that everyone of every age should see this movie, and i definitely think that it should be introduced to the younger generations! sorry not the most informative, i'm in kinda a rush... just please, trust me. all who go against this movie are killing their inner child!
Hostel (2005)
big let down!
I was expecting to not be able to sleep for a week after seeing this. i was expecting a blood and guts filled horror movie and what i got was basically a soft-core porno with a slow moving plot. No one even bothered to make sure that the movie line was followed all the way through, having some of the characters do things that are against their personalities...then again i do tend to notice the small details so i guess some of the things that bothered me wouldn't bother everyone ells...
though if you are going to see this movie because your wanting to go see a gory horror flick you will be very disappointed... and that scene thats been all over the trailers, you know the one ware the toe is about to be chopped off, they didn't even bother to show the actual toe coming off. honestly Scream three was probably better than this movie and that isn't saying much.
On the upside, the movie was pretty funny, only problem was that it wasn't meant to be! so basically if you want to waste $8 to go see an accidental comedy then go for it, but if not don't worry your not missing anything...
