The Golden Girls: My Brother, My Father (1988)
Skip this episode.
This is a classic sitcom set up, where you need two characters to pretend they are in a relationship for whatever reason.
Well the relationship here is Dorothy and her ex needing to be forced to appease a distant uncle who happens to be a very serious priest. Dorothy is clearly unwilling to do this. My issue is this is about as conservative and hostile as one can get with a religion. Dorothy's divorce is hers and her choice for her happiness. Someone's culty delusional religion should have no bearing on other people's lives. Plenty of Golden Girl episodes, situations, and jokes get flak for being "outdated." Well this is and will always be hot garbage. Poor Bea's Character for having to be forced to put up with her ex husband because of a one off character's religion. This episode is pointless and tone deaf.
The Simpsons: Homer's Crossing (2023)
This is just another homer is a vigilante episode.
This is just another homer is a vigilante episode. As previously seen in, Homer the Vigilante.
How many of these do we need? I think i gave on the concept after Homer being Pieman. That was the last decent take, on this 'Homer the vigilante' concept.
Please stop just rehashing this overly tired series.
It is painfully clear there is no new direction for these characters.
There is no other show that is allowed this much room for mediocrity and bland entertainment.
Please stop wasting your time and end the series. Just make another Movie with all the best effort thrown into like the first and let it be. But with our luck, The Simpsoms movie 2 will be about Homer Pissing Off Marge just to gain back their marriage just in time to save the day for the credits to roll.
Futurama: That's Lobstertainment! (2001)
Zoidberg at his best.
The A plot, deals with Zoidberg connecting with his past his prime, great comedian uncle. While the B plot follows the crew trying to catch Zoidberg's movie. This episode is hilarious and full of heart. This episode is hysterical start to finish as we get to see Futurama take on Hollywood. Really, the heart of this episode is all about cementing Zoidberg as the best hearted character of the Planet Express Crew. Along the way we get more great bits from Calculon and Bender, as always, is great. Zoidberg's action is so kind that he changes his crusty Uncle's outlook on life. In the way it is delivered is a solid take in what artistry can really mean.
Futurama: The Sting (2003)
Very Overrated Episode by the Fanbase.
This episode is all over the place. It has some great jokes mostly by bender and professor farnsworth early on. You get some fun bits at Fry's funeral where his exes show up and a few other characters we don't normally see when we see New New York citizens get together for bigger events. The issue is this episode is very tough for rewatches because it uses a very big gimmick and it doesn't have proper payoff.
When I see tons of classic Futurama Episodes like Less Than Hero, Obsoletely Fabulous get a 7 when they should be getting 9's. I have to rate this Lower to iffset the nonsensical hype. Really it should be a 6 or a 7.
Family Guy: Tea Peter (2012)
A solid and Honest Episode.
This is a great episode that ruffles the feathers of libertarian, tea party types. It directly, and accurately describes the Tea Party- And really it's the republican faction within that party. They are founded by private interests and corporations that want to get rid of any additional costs or regulations that government demands of them. By January 2023, we see Nestlè in Colorado try and buy public water. Greedy Private interests have always found a way to attack public services that help people. Not everyone is in the position to be rich like Carter so we need society to look out for all. Xx.
Family Guy: Thanksgiving (2011)
sid episode with laughs throughout
This episode takes a real issue of the time, the iraq war and really puts in on the plate in front of everyone. I give credit to family guy for being bold and telling a real story here about american issues. Most family guy political episodes land with a moral and that is present here also. Political strife can tear a lot of people apart and Iraq, 9/11 are serious issues with serious consequences. This episode holds little back while offer lots of cheeky dialogue to keep you entertained throughout.
It probably could have been a 9 or a 10 if the episode had more impact on the show ongoing but as is, it's a political stance episode the holds up.
Stranger Things (2016)
After the first season, the show is not worth watching.
Terribly clichè choices, dues ex machina after dues ex machina. There is not really a soul on this production as it just seeks to burn screen time to put characters in the same near death situations they escape from. When you have an overly protected maincast all the dangerous choices the producers give us because routine and boring. When the action is not going there is ample "hang out time" but it never adds up to much compelling characterizations. The cgi monsters become very replacable and it's always obvious the creatures never actually interact with the real enviroments. The worst offense of this, was in the Season 3 mall ending. But Season 4 just is all of this in spades.
If you want actual compelling Sci Fi with a horror twist I suggest Dark, Black Mirror or Something in the vein of Blade Runner. It is hard to care about characters in such clichè and overtly protective choices.
South Park: The Big Fix (2022)
Where to start with this...
I like the initial set up. But if Token's name was offensive, this is about the stupidest way to retcon the name. There was not many laughs found here. Again i like the initial premise that makes Randy look for Token's dad to add to his farm. But the Token retconning is just a really poor attempt at erasing history.
If you feel bad for your character, give your characters something to do, it just might give them, CHARACTER????? Stan complaining he is a racist for always hearing Token's name as Token, is the worst cop out you could possibly make. All it does is shift focus away from improving Token.
There could have been actual progress for Token's character if they actually desired to, but all I am left qith is Matt Stone and Trey Parker have a lot of issues to sort out.
I am not even the type of fan to think of Token's name as a bad thing. If it was a reaction to network overreach on the early 00's, then I don't see the issue. The issue is this is really lazy writing, and there just are not enough jokes here to keep anyone interested.
Joker (2019)
Hot garbage, stay away
This film's reactions are awful. All the "reasonings" and pivotal moments are so unbelievable or even worse predictable.Only one scene has any proper build up, everything else is as simple as bullying is bad. It's performances were average, nothing stood out as believable since the premised were so flimsy and poorly designed at the script level. All Juaqin did was be himself with a laugh. The cinematography was okay, it achieved an unsettling atmosphere early on. The soundtrack was misplaced and grated against all the moments in the film. The editing and pacing was adequate and in an hour and a half it's not a massive waste of time. Whatever awards for this film gets are undeserved and can be used as evidence that the award industry unnecessary as a whole.
