On a Wing and a Prayer (2023)
Laughter is the best medicine
The reviews about how awful this movie is are not wrong but they miss the point. When viewed as a comedy, it's quite good. We burst out in laughter multiple times. Granted, it was due to the absurdity of various twists (storm approaching...cut to shot of coastal hurricane...next, we're in clear skies on final), or the awfulness of the script, or the forced cliches. Dennis Quaid's scrunchy puffy face as he's wrestling the plane is hilarious.
Also, it works as a Mystery. As in WHAT IN GAWD'S NAME ARE DENNIS QUAID AND HEATHER GRAHAM DOING IN THIS PICTURE? Did someone lose a bet? Contractual obligations? Sadly, the mystery is never resolved.
Did it occur to anyone else that the callsign Niner Delta Whiskey could also be interpreted as Niner Dead Whites? 😁 or Niner Dreadful Waste of two hours?🤣
interesting story tho!
The Virtuoso (2021)
You watch The Virtuoso. You begin to wonder why. Then you realize...you will never get these 2 hours back.
What a dreadful show. Starting with the narrative voiceover from the main character. Really, it's just annoying.
Then, the plot. Pretty easy to figure out about halfway thru.
The worst part? The shock scenes, which are supposed to ramp up the suspense, but are just revolting. Young boy's mother incinerated in front of his very eyes? Check. Long story about soldiers chasing down and murdering a *two year old* boy? Check. Shooting a trusting dog as he eats his bowel of food? Check. This movie should be rated V for Vile. Or D for despicable. Maybe F for effing waste of time.
The worst part are the shock scenes
the worst part.
