A Very Good Girl (2023)
Giant insult to Filipino Cinema
Absolute trash!. Beyond trash even. Waste of talented actors and purposeless plot. Full of hatred. Pointless. Why??? I would be disappointed in my country for putting out this nonsense. Also what's with the repeated cursing? Is this supposed to feel more American now or something? Can't you write a better script than just have multiple uses of the same curse word over again. Come on just make good Filipino movies. Don't try to copy some other stuff out there. Don't waste 2 hours of your life. I am warning you. The titi at the beginning of this movie was a red flag right of the bat. I should have known something as stupid as that could only be bull**** as the old lady in this movie would say.
Good Burger 2 (2023)
Give Good Burger Back
Why make a sequel if you can't get all the original cast back? Where's Deedee? Where's Sinbad? Where's Linda Cardellini? SNL cast were unnecessary.
Ed's son in the movie did a great job and Dexter's niece was cool. Cool to see Shar and George Clinton but would have been nice if they were actually on set. The lunch scene was good but just not as memorable as the dinner date in the first one. Also the escape scene was not as good.as the mental asylum as the first one. I had low expectations and didnt expect much and that's what this was. I hope Ken and Kel enjoyed making it and reuniting for it but overall there was really no point.
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
What more could I ask for?
I am not Indian but I loved this film. It has so many great characters and beautiful scenes. There is singing, dancing, romance, humor, drama, battles, action, strong character development, attention to detail, and great acting.
I read one review that said it was overrated and overdone but like what more do you want? You want the same old cliche American movies with the same actors doing the same old things again? End of the world? Some government conspiracy? Some ridiculous comedy nothing else? No thanks. I want something new and fresh. Something with all the things I listed above in the first paragraph. This movie has it. I was a little worried at first but once I started watching I did not want to to turn it off.
The main character, Baahubali, is immediately likable. I was rooting for him the entire movie. The villains play their parts so well. Even the minor characters are great in this film. I wish there was more time to give each of them. This movie is like the Red Cliff of Chinese historical movies. Done so well with so much ingenuity and creativity.
Treat yourself to something knew and don't listen to the haters' reviews. Even if you are not Indian you can enjoy this film.
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
Has everything you could ask for in a movie.
So the title says it all for me. I am not Indian but I loved this movie. I am sick of American movies with all the same plot (end of the world etc.) and the lack of honor of most characters. This movie has it all. It has character development, great acting, awesome fight sequences, singing, romance, dancing, beautiful CGI, and more.
Sure there are some things that are definitely not possible in real life but like I said I want something different. This movie makes you love the protagonists and hate the antagonists. It also doesn't just let everyone win. There is betrayal and justice. There is questions about right and wrong. There is the underlying theme that if you have to forcibly take something from someone then you probably still will not be happy once you get it.
I love the cast. The actor played Bhallaladeva as such a good villain. Shivagami was awesome and so was Devasena. I wish we had more of Avanthika but still happy with what we had. Of course Baahubali was wonderful playing two characters. I would want him as king just as much as the people did. Every character mattered I thought. The outfits, weapons, scenery, and CGI animals were excellent also.
If you like historical or sword battle Chinese films you will like this Indian film as well. If you are sick of the same old American Flicks then try something new and see Baahubali 1 and 2. They are long flicks but never did I wish I was doing something else.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
I guess Ragnarok is not that serious
I really thought this movie would be better than it was but it was more like another Guardians of the Galaxy with a another super lame villain. Sorry but there was nothing great about Hela or Cate Blanchett's performance. Just another generic villain with a lame back story and all of sudden is Thor's sister. Also her powers were stupid. Cool you can shoot spikes...so powerful. Fenrir and Surtur were barely part of the movie and were lame as well. How can there be so many jokes going on when the Queen and King of Asgard are both dead and things are looking bad? Like your home is destroyed and you barely seem to care.
Some other stupid parts of this movie:
The warriors three die like immediately. They had good roles in the first 2 movies I guess their contract was up now. So let's kill them off.
Odin barely has a part. Same with Doctor Strange.
Heimdall was underused. Barely said anything and almost got killed by some undead soldiers. Seriously? This guy broke out of ice how could he almost die to some undead soldiers?
Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, and Darcy completely missing.
Tessa Thompson did not really add much to the movie either. Just another person to help get off Sakaar.
Korg was funny but also similar to Tessa Thompson.
Overall I felt like there was a lot of jumping around. From one planet to the next and Ragnarok was not that big of deal. If this movie never happened I do not think it would affect anything in the Marvel Universe especially if Hela and Surtur do not appear in Infinity War.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)
*Sigh* I didn't expect much and still was let down.
First off, it was awesome this movie brought back so many characters from the previous movies but the problem is these characters did not really add anything to the film. Mullroy and Murtogg were great to see again but were not the same funny two people like before. Secondly, it was good to hear a lot of the music reused but sadly I would rather just hear the music instead of watch what was happening. I dunno why people say Javier Bardem did such an excellent job in this film he barely said anything and when he did it was hard to understand him. I didn't care if he lived or died and his ship was super lame. He was not even a freaking' pirate!!!! Ugh, such a lame villain!!
*Warning Spoilers*
The trident just gets broken. What a waste of a cool weapon. Should have just left it out of the film if it was just gonna get broken.
Barbossa never uses the Sword of Triton to do anything except release the pearl from the bottle. Where's this supposed fleet he has? What happened to all the ships in the bottles that Gibbs had in the 4th film? What happened to the Queen's Anne's Revenge and Sword of Triton after Barbossa dies?
Barbossa dies. How stupid. Such a cool character and they kill him off. he did not even die a cool death. I hope he is not dead. He barely had any lines too. Kill off Jack Sparrow please! He added nothing to this film. All he did half the time was go "AH" or "OH" or mumble something not even funny.
Too much random events and not enough meaningful dialogue.
Is Davy Jones back? Just show him or have him speak. Why show his shadow and crab arm? He was a cool villain so they should have done more with him if they were gonna hint at him being alive.
I was real excited for this movie because I thought it was going to be like the original one but the characters were barely even likable. I want to see more pirate films but I really think these have run their course. If Jones or Barbossa are not in the next film then why even see it? I don't wanna see Jack Sparrow anymore because he adds nothing to these films anymore.
