Spider-Man 2 (2004)
More annoying than fun
When I got this game I thought, 'Wow this is fun!'
...but it gets very old very fast.
For each 'Chapter' you play, you must obtain certain goals. Almost all of which are the same. There is always one unique goal for each chapter. Other than that, you go around stopping the same crimes over and over again. It gets ridiculous. Same goes for the dialog. The same BAD jokes over and over again, Sometimes twice is a row.
Example - Woman: 'Spiderman, You da man!'
Spiderman: 'Thanks ... you da woman?'
(8 Seconds Later)
Woman: 'Spiderman, You da man!'
Spiderman: 'Thanks ... you da woman?'
As for comparing it to GTA, I can see how people can think that. Yet something is off with the surroundings. You see, the GTA series has found a way to make their cities have a different look for different areas. In Spiderman 2, everything has the same 'blah' quality to it, throughout the city. It almost feels like you're web-slinging through a map of cubes rather than buildings.
Also, the graphics look like they were made for the original Playstation as opposed to PS2.
I wouldn't recommend this game, in my opinion, the original Spider-Man video game for the PS1 was much more fun than this one. At least it didn't get so old so quick. This game leaves you wanting more. But not in a good way.
The Ghouls (2003)
Good... not great... worth viewing
Looking around on the internet, one will get mixed reviews for this independent film. Some comments will read "horrible effects/Script/Actors", others I read said "Great effects/actors, solid script and see to believe makeup/scenes". The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I hadn't even heard of this film before plucking it off the shelf(to rent) at the video store. It's definitely not an average horror film. It includes some very unique/sloppy (you can decide) camera angles. Some shots seem too zoomed in, or perhaps not enough takes were done. The script has it's downfalls (character depth), and seems slightly, if not more, rushed. The dialog could use some work...
Having said that, this movie is worth seeing. The plot starts slowly, but once one gets into it, it can surly keep one's attention. There are some gruesome scenes, and it will shock, if not scare you. An overall dark mood throughout, comparable to 28 days later(the mood), but by no means the same.
If you expect to see a typical movie with this one, you're way off. Original, unique... there's definitely something here you can't get from big budget Hollywood movies. It's hard to forget about this one anytime soon after watching it.
A graph of this movie would start at the bottom and end at the top... slow starting but grows and grows to something... (for lack of a better term) better.
