Gray Matter (2023)
It's bad
I love PGL, but damn this movie is boring AF. Stopped watching halfway through. I don't care about the characters. The scenes are long and quiet, overly serious. The mom has no likeable qualities. I have no idea why Aurora killed that boy, or how she met him, or what their relationship was.
PGL needs to pick a good script. It doesn't need to be fancy, but get something solid with characters that we feel something for. Don't make it too serious. A story that isn't character-driven is a waste of time.
And for gods sake, give the director more than pocket change and 6 weeks. Give the film a real chance.

A good scare
We all have had that scary sensation - someone is there. Or are they?
This movie does a great job of playing off that fear. Suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat, with a number of "oh" moments in the theater.
Enjoyed it!!
Uncut Gems (2019)
Worst movie ever if you only like big studio blockbusters
This movie is not for everyone. In fact, seven people walked out of the showing I attended, and the couple next to me said they hated it. The husband said it was the worst movie he's ever seen.
But don't let them fool you. This is a polarizing but GOOD movie. I loved this movie. It was inventive, it was different, it was stressful, it was unexpected, it was original, it had good pacing, a good plot, and I love the ending.
Yes, some of the music is annoying, yes The protagonist is an ugly person and has a terrible life and has terrible taste in home decor.
But all of these things are characters in the film. The music is stressful, Howard's life is stressful. This guy has his fingers in so many different pots, he can't keep it all straight. The editing reflects that.
This is also conflict central. We open up knowing exactly what this guy wants, And we watch all the forces of life conspire to deny him what he wants throughout this flick. And we want him struggling to overcome all of it.
And it's fantastic. And the fact that it's Adam Sandler, Happy Gilmore, doing all this makes it that much better.
This movie is not for everyone, and that's a good thing.
Oh, and there's a ton of cussing in it, so think about who you take with you.
