Lucky Hank: Pilot (2023)
Frasier vibes
I just finished watching the first episode of "Lucky Hank," and I must say, it's a cute and charming show. The warm lighting, wooden furniture and designs, and small-town vibes create a lighthearted atmosphere that's easy to get lost in. The show has its own unique atmosphere and humor, sitting somewhere between that little HBO series "Olive Kitteridge" and the classic "Frasier."
Bob Odenkirk is absolutely amazing in his conflicted role, tackling middle-aged existential problems with a dry humor that doesn't leave you feeling heavy or sad. Instead, the show manages to leave you with an uplifted mood.
After watching it and while doing some chores around the house, I found that the light music from the show stayed in my head, along with some memorable quotes and bits of witty conversations. "Lucky Hank" created a light, joyful, and reflective mood for me, making it the perfect show to unwind and relax with. If you're in the mood for a heartwarming series with a touch of clever humor and a unique atmosphere, give this one a shot!
Lucky Hank (2023)
Exciting and unforgettable
Just watched the first episode of "Lucky Hank" and it's awesome! Bob Odenkirk is killing it in his role. I love the dry humor in this show. It's so different from all those other shows out there that just don't feel genuine. They all seem like they're trying too hard, but "Lucky Hank" just flows so naturally.
The conversations in this show are just amazing. It's like a breath of fresh air compared to what's on TV nowadays. I swear, it's like honey for my ears. I really hope they don't cancel it after only one season, but it wouldn't surprise me. People have super high expectations for Bob Odenkirk's third big show. I'd guess that for the first episode of "Lucky Hank" to be a hit, it might need some more action. But let's be real - this isn't the kind of show where in its first scene ever we'd see a man in his underwear in the middle of the desert, holding a pistol with a broken RV nearby. That's a whole different story and "Lucky Hank" stands on its own with its smart humor and relatable life reflections, making it a unique and enjoyable experience.
I also want to point out that "Lucky Hank" seems like it's geared more towards the 30+ audience. It has some random existential thoughts and the kind of reflections that usually come to people after they've reached a certain age. This adds another layer of depth to the show, making it even more exciting and relatable for those who have experienced similar thoughts. If you're in that age group and enjoy smart humor, "Lucky Hank" is definitely worth checking out!
Ted Lasso (2020)
I dont get it
Sorry, im not a native english speaker. This show is ok. It can be cute and manipulates viewers emotions in simple and predictable way. In two words this series is simple and average. Nothing new, nothing imaginative. I could totally agree with its existence if not 2 aspects: its imdb rating of 8.8 and its emmy wins. Can anyone on earth explain to me how this series could beat Barry? Both on ratings and emmy. It is just beyond my understanding. As i can see that Ted Lasso appeals to broader public but since when it became a criteria of quality? Barry is just 10 times deeper, imaginative, funnier, better acted, better written and better directed show. Can anyone explain it to me? Im sorry if you are fan, no hard feelings here, just a very confused experienced viewer asking. If you agree with me, upvote, disagree - downvote. Have a nice day!
Bad Sisters (2022)
Has its moments
I hoped to like this show as trailers showed something that most likely is my cup of tea. Based on 2 released episodes I can tell that it has a potential. I've not fell in love instantly as I hoped though, seems like it is missing something. Maybe I watched trailer and thought it ll be something like six feet under on steroids - less drama and more dark humor. Series have some cliche scenes but at the same time some refreshing moments and beautiful or creative shots. It tries to be stylish and almost succeeds. I cross my fingers and hope that they will add more dark humor and make less cliche scenes. Time will show.
Sprung (2022)
Instant classic
I loved it! Genuine humor, adventure, heartfelt moments. It has everything. Humor really stands out among other hundreds of series that only trying to seem funny. Could be the best project from Gregory Thomas Garcia yet. It was a joy to see Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton working together again. Lets hope the rest of the season holds the same level of goodness.
Malcolm in the Middle: Goodbye Kitty (2003)
Goodbye Kitty
Malcolm/Stewey plot - 1/10. Whiney, boring, all this sadness for secondary character just doesnt do good for the show.
Hal/Abe plot - 8/10. Short, predictable but physic comedy of Bryan Cranston is gold as always.
Dewey plot - 8/10. Nice concept but too short to enjoy.
Reese/Lois plot - 9/10. Interestingly built and fun to watch.
Episode suffers from Steeve whiney plotline that took too much of screentime.
Malcolm in the Middle: Watching the Baby (2003)
Watching the baby
Dewey's/Jamie plot - 10/10. Dewey's story is as creative as it can get. It's funny, inspired and i would definetely watch a show like that he built in his head. Dewey is an amazingly written TV character.
Hal/Kraig plot - 9/10. Two most cartoonish characters of the show go against each other in a cartoonish battle. Pure fun.
Malcolm/Reese plot - 7/10. It was predictable and filler material. If not that lazy writing, could be an excellent episode.
Malcolm in the Middle: Academic Octathalon (2003)
Academic Octathalon
Dewey/Hal plotline - 10/10. Funny and touching!
Malcolm plotline - 10/10. Enjoyable and even contains 2 or 3 plot twists.
Reese plotline - 8/10. Reeses mischiefs are always pleasure to watch.
Francis plotline... well it is just there.
Episode is cleverly written and has some heartfelt moments. But the real joke is the episode's rating - 7.5, are you serious??
Seinfeld: The Ticket (1992)
The ticket
Kramer and Newman in court is a golden moment in a farce history on television. Jerry talking to cop comes second, still very funny. Georges rant about money and Ted Danson - also funny! Thats a classic Seinfeld as we know it.
Seinfeld: The Chinese Restaurant (1991)
Chinese Restaurant
Decent early episode of Seinfeld, maybe first one that has some rewatchability value. Plot constructed in a clever way, but episode lacks a usual charm that later seasons have. Maybe it is cause of absence of Kramer, or George's neurosis not as funny as it could be. Elaine and Jerry are just there. Egg roll and 50 bucks part was funny, as well as chinese guy at the counter.
Seinfeld: The Jacket (1991)
The Jacket
This show is a comedy, right? Expensive jacket, almost 10 gay jokes in 20 minutes, Kramer is rude to Jerry, Elaine's story why she is late. Tail gunner guy. Indeed, nothing funny about that. Early Seinfeld episodes didnt age well.
Malcolm in the Middle: Garage Sale (2003)
Garage sale
Garage sale plot - 7.5/10. Slow at start but has satisfying conclusion.
Hal's plot - 8.5/10. Goofy dad saves the show again.
Dewey, Francis plotpines - 7/10. Nothing remarkable.
Overall decent episode of "Hal in the middle". 8/10.
Malcolm in the Middle: Hal's Friend (2003)
Hal's friend
Hal's plotline - 8/10. Has some funny moments.
Dewey/Reese plotline - 8/10, decent.
Francis plotline - 7/10, mildly entertaining.
Malcolm plotline - 3/10, awful and takes too much of screentime.
7/10, almost no rewatch value.
Frasier: To Kill a Talking Bird (1997)
To kill a talking bird
Maybe my most favorite episode of whole series. Screenplay is simple and brilliant. I loved all of the parts, every rifle shoots in the end. This is the best kind of a farce.
Frasier: Frasier-Lite (2004)
Frasier-lite
I like the bit where Hungry Kenny in a bathrobe secretly takes food from Fraser's kitchen. And when Frasier sees it he thinks that Kenny went crazy with hunger and that he gnaws on the bones of a raw pigeon that Eddie befriends.
Frasier: Murder Most Maris (2003)
Murder most Maris
Murder involving pale woman with weak triceps and an antic crossbow. Naked psychiatrist reading a newspaper in a public cafe. Manson family, helicopters, dead golddigger-polo player, shoes are taken for ransom in prison. What else have i forgotten? 10/10.
Frasier: Maris Returns (2003)
Maris returns
Niles/Daphnee plotline - good writing, lies involved that lead to awkward situations, snowball until total catastrophe and all that ends in a satisfactory way.
Frasier plotline - great writing, classic misunderstandings, good old slapstick comedy, all the guns shoot in the end. Cringe and funny.
10/10.
Frasier: I'm Listening (2003)
I'm listening
Frasier/Martin centered episode. Good writing. Sentimental plot, love affair stuff for Martin. Some awkward situations and misunderstandings happen. 9/10.
The Kids in the Hall: Episode #1.8 (2022)
Omg this cliffhanger!
Cannot wait for season 2, such a powerful cliffhanger!! I was at the edge of my seat!!! The best episode yet :) "Much too much" and "My card" my favorite sketches.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter Five: Dreams in a Witch House (2018)
Dark, satirical humor at its best
Experimental and refreshing episode, personally i enjoyed all the dream sequences (though Hilda's and Zelda's are the best). Reminded me of some of the best experimental episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but with the better execution. Creepy and cheesy atmosphere mixed with social satire, what else whoud you wish? Great chance to better know all the main characters through their nightmares. Low rating is not justified.
Malcolm in the Middle: Reese Cooks (2001)
Reese Cooks
9/10 for Reese + Hal part(father+son bonding and seeing Reeze's character development is a huge moment).
8/10 for Francis part (creativity approach at procrastination is always funny to watch).
7/10 for Malcolm and Synthia part (yes i see the moral, but that part didn't seem funny).
Total score is 8.
Malcolm in the Middle: Surgery (2001)
Classic "Malcolm" episode
Truly great written and sincerely funny episode. Nothing exceptional about it, but it has a real classic feeling of "Malcolm in the middle". It just feels right and leaves you with dorky smile at the end. 7.8 raiting is not justified, so i give it a 10.
Adventure Time: I Remember You (2012)
Catharsis
It was just a regular funny episode with charming silly humor... for a first 5 minutes. And then till a very end i felt as if someone squeezed my heart and tore it out of my chest.
In fact, 30 years old bearded man cried and experienced powerful emotional catharsis while watching "just a silly kids cartoon". Light sadness mixed with sudden insight, what a feeling! I needed it for a long time...
Suddenly this episode topped the show for me right to the heights of "Breaking Bad". Enough said.
