Tin & Tina (2023)
Movie ruined by how dumb the characters are
And also, this is not horror. It's just cultish, obsessive religion. Not worth watching honestly.
Without giving spoilers, the characters are annoying. The decision to simply adopt those pretty big kids from a convent without getting to know them first, dumb. The movie can be sooo slow at times. The stuff happening towards the end of the movie has so much filler it's unbelievably annoying. I had to keep skipping because I did not muster the patience for it. And finally the ending is completely "wtf?".
No substance. Just a whole bunch of religious bible passages spewed and actions justified by them. The parents find the behaviors of the kids completely normal apparently since they keep finding excuses for them. Red flags flying furiously all around the screen but nah they just a little weird and doing kid stuff. Honestly it barely was a quarter into the movie and I was fed up with the parents. Such unpleasant characters. Not rooting for them at all.
The two kid actors are cute tho. About one of the only positives.
Manifest (2018)
Season 4 became lazy
The main villain's storyline in season 4 is dragging already way too much. It's not credible anymore even in a world where planes come back to life 5 and a half years later. The "heroes" of the show are acting like they have dementia, like they never learn anything from the past experiences. Is someone secretly holding a gun to their heads? Because they always just do the bare minimum when it comes to make sure the bad guy is put away. In fact, not even the bare minimum. No, they straight up give them a free pass, get out of jail free card. I get wanting to create suspense but suspense has a veeeery thin demarcation line between itself and frustration! When you find yourself purely mad and exasperated at the decisions the characters make, then you know the writing is going bad. Needless to say the finale of the season 4 left me with a bitter taste. Literally any other plot twist or explanation they could've used besides the one they actually went with and it would've been better. At this point I think some actors start having other obligations with other projects and the producers are doing a very bad job at sending them away. Oh and that one character that returns and haven't been around for like 2 seasons? Unnecessary and weird. Just another bunch of filler scenes that are completely random and not fitting with the context. Disappointing. I would also like to comment that some "action-like" episodes this season and the past one were kinda weird, like they were from a whole different show but whatever, I frankly don't even remember what they were about, just remember my feeling about them.
I'll probably still watch season 5 but I'm glad it's the last one because there's no salvaging of the show at this point with the directions they took (p.s. Way too much religion bs, starts to creep me out because I'm afraid the writers might actually be religious fanatics that believe in the verses they keep making characters repeat) (although p.s. 2, touche with the personification of god as "she", and this is coming from an atheist 😉)
Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Realistic? Sure. But manipulative just for shock value also yes
Look I get it, Ruth had it coming since her dumb decision a la Langmore style. But. I vote this with 1 out of 10 simply as a protest for how the writers chose to use that car accident for shock value and as a cliffhanger. If they really wanted to use the scene just to bond the family, like they say, they wouldn't have used it at the beginning of the season, there would be no reason to. So no, that's a lie. They knew very well what they were doing and it was just a trick. Besides, the episode, like others say, was rushed, full of plot holes, full of useless scenes and scenes that could've been important were brushed over (um..the car scene to begin with!). For so long now they've hinted at the way the Byrdes are falling deeper and deeper in a dark hole they digged themselves and how hypocrite Wendy is and how much of a shadow Marty became but ...all for nothing. We don't get to see on screen any final consequence that catches up with them. We see how drug cartel lord after drug cartel lord die, and how strong "immortal" characters like the lawyer or Del Rio meet their demise, but alas the Byrdes are truly special! Sure they have some obstacles along the way, sure a brother dies (it's not like the aforementioned characters never had anything to sacrifice but still had more serious consequences), but that's it. I was hoping for a full ark, not for the show to stop at the top of the arch for the Byrdes, when they have everything. I was hoping for yes, the kind of conclusion the beginning hinted at! Because guess what?! That would've also been realistic! It's not like the Byrdes are the f*kin top 10 billionaires in the world to get away with everything, no they're just some middle players. It's realistic for middle players, especially umm those that mingle with drug cartels, to face some serious consequences. So that finale seriously landed worse than that car Marty was driving and from which they miraculously got out with less injuries than Wendy hitting her head in frustration on the car's window and getting a bruise the size of a golf ball...
Mother/Android (2021)
Okish with super dramatic ending
Not impressed, kinda slow, lacking substance and a deeper meaning, but not the worst. The story can be engaging provided you last through the cliche scenes.
Only at the end however I finally empathised with the characters. For me it was really a tear jerking end. It's only then that I had the most interest in the story and it's why I give it such a high rating. Wish they created more interesting characters so you would get involved with their lifes throughout the movie.
I'm mad that I cried to it. Because the characters didn't deserve it. Goddamn empathy 😑
Timeless (2016)
So many dumb things in the pilot
I was excited to start this because I love the subject but there were so many things that just rubbed me the wrong way. It started so abruptly and I could not believe the story, like I know it's sci-fi but the reasons and explanations seemed lazy and could not make me get into it. So why did they actually choose those 3 people? Weak explanations. The soldier? A highly trained assassin would've done better, not a pretty boy with a sob story who is not able to follow the first order given. The historian? Just cus of her mother...? They didn't bother to really show a background of her to paint her better, make us understand why she's so good. Just a snippet of a class where she tells a joke. The acting was weird as well probably because of the script. And so cliché. Well if you are able to resist watching something kinda cheesy and cringey for the sake of some easy entertainment then I suppose it might be a good watch. But the high rating not only here, might set you up for dissapointment.
Lights Out (2016)
Good scares
Hey it's not a must see but if you happen over it, it's not a waste of time. Good scares, interesting plot, nice pace.
The Hatred (2017)
What the...is this?
It scares me that people say the first part of the movie was good. I stopped watching it before the first part would end because I could not stand it. I don't want to know how the rest was.
The plot was so random and I personally did not buy it. But that's not the worst. No, the worst is that I could not actually tell for sure at first if the family is still in the 60s or present day. DID YOU SEE THE MAKEUP? What the heck is that? Dude, they scream 2010s-2020s trends. Highlighter on cheeckbones?? And the hairstyles? Standing there at the table if I were to see only that scene for one second I would wonder where's the girls' iphone.
The way the women talked was so different than how the man talked. Like they weren't from the same film.
The acting was bad, not compelling, rather scary how cringe it was sometimes. I felt weird. The minutes I saw from the movie were weird and not in a good way. Bleah. Not recommended.
Aura (2018)
Nah
This dude steve larson must really be trying hard to sell to the american audience, this is the second movie I know from him where he uses british actors to pretend they're americans.
I honestly stopped after like 15 minutes in and downrated on netflix. I disliked from the first second the expression of the main actress and the couple seemed like they were created by two of those people who do funny cheap remakes of scenes from movies. Like they were so bad. Could not even sell to me they are a couple. No chemistry. The scene of the wife falling was painfully long and anyone who has watched at least one other movie in their life could predict what was going to happen. Then the dialogue over the phone with the mother. Oh no no no. Nooo. Nope.
Bad acting. Bad bad bad acting. Such annoying parodies of common tropes in horror movies. Sadly not even funny. Too bad. The concept was starting to sound sorta interesting, not unique but interesting. But nah, I stopped when I could not handle anymore that sad fest of a scene between the mother and son.
Pentagram (2019)
Not even funny-stupid just stupid
It's on netflix unfortunately and when something is on netflix i rarely read reviews before, I'm too comfortable. But jeez I wish I did because there is nothing good to say about the movie.
Funnily enough I jumped from other two lame horror movies before settling with watching this one because the concept seemed interesting. But don't be fooled. It's executed so poorly that it's simply not worth it.
Lots of mistakes too, like the lighter that one time is "out" but later works, the tea candle that somehow lasts way longer than the thick candles did, the fact that it took like 2 min for the demon thingy to come take the person out of the pentagram but they could not just quickly run out to get the candles and then hurry back in the circle, the demon wasn't apparently interested in taking the pink highlights girl, etc. And the dialogue.... I had to fast forward through the last dialogue between siblings because it was boring and you didn't care about the characters the whole movie anyway. From the beginning I found the group to be extremely annoying and disliked them all.
Solid 1. Abrupt and predictable ending. Long pointless intro. You feel like nothing really happened in the movie, barely any tension, decision making, twists, suspenseful moments or existential crisis moments. Nothing. Nothing deep nothing exciting nothing funny nothing interesting nothing that would make you feel something.
Looked like some film school end of semester project made by someone who just wanted to get it over with and go home for Christmas.
Netflix, discard this movie, it's trash.
Blow (2001)
I did not expect to cry
Honestly the movie felt a bit messy.. Maybe like how living as a drug dealer is. It felt somehow superficial and shallow with not enough character realness. So I truly did not expect to cry at the end. But the movie had some nice deeper scenes that gave you something to think about.
Don't expect The Wire or even Narcos. But if you want a slow but fast forwarding drama where you will see a lot of cringey 80s clothes trends, this movie is a nice watch.
Riverdale (2017)
Oh my goood the drama!
The title says it all... Oh my goood the drama.....
At least if it was better done or reasonable.
And the characters have no continuity. Omg they change from half episode to half episode. And the conversations are so forced and pathetic sometimes.
It is beautifully done but.. It's stupid lol. It's teenager mind level. 5-10 years ago I would have liked this show probably. The plot is somewhat interesting but all the personal dramas involved at a point seem to just be there for the fun of it.
The glam is all over in a small town in US.. Veronica Lodge? She is dressed everyday like she's Blair Waldorf 's best friend although her mother had to go wait tables to put some money on the table.
Betty Cooper.. Jesus she's the most annoying character and that "darkness" in her is laughable that's how pathetic it was done.
The characters seem to have no depth or power of decision sometimes that's how linear their actions are but oh, then there's a completely 180 degrees in their path when they do something completely unlikely and opposite to what they seemed to believe up to that point.
Cheryl is more interesting but sadly she was reduced to a comic book character depth. She is truly the clown of the series.
The other characters seem to appear on the plot when they want to add more traits to the principal characters or when they simply don't know what else to fill an episode with. So let's add drama!!!
I've seen better and more deep portrayals of teenage highschool drama and crime-solving plots.
This is just a fun, colorful, glam and teenage fantasies show good to watch when you're feeling low and need to eat some ice cream or popcorn to make yourself feel better.
Sense8 (2015)
Not perfect, BUT extremely engaging
I finished it all and was left both sad and happy. Like real "there's hope and beauty in the world" happy. It's a show for open minded people centered on the power of love and feelings, for people who want to see depth accompanied by comedy and fantasy.
I enjoyed everything the show brought. I wished I've seen more of the struggles of everyday life but there was no time and budget left. I was left happy with the wrap up of the 2h30" final episode however. Well done producers!!
I appreciated the effort put into this show. From filming in so many locations to the skills of the actors..
And people complain the plot is too long and boring. Well, every episode was constructed to show REAL problems in the world! If you think our problems are boring then don't watch.. Sorry it's not mindless SF bull**** where all they do is make up imaginary wars and fights between imaginary not relatable characters.
This show is not for that. It's more than that.
Westworld (2016)
Season 2 boring and dumb
I've seen 3 episodes of s02 so far and I really don't think I'll keep watching. Very dissapointed. Yes, you could say that it might still be interesting and smart if you believe that paying close attention to details by watching an episode 3 times is worth it because you may find hints, but I say you might just be a snob or hopeless fanboy.
In all honesty, it is chaotic and dumb. If you are able to pay such good attention to details to find hints that could help the story make sense, then you can also find all the mistakes and cliches in it. And boy they are plenty. For example, one moment a host understands that they are robots made my humans and formed from "memories" that humans planted in them, but the next moment, the same host doesn't understand that their father or child is not their real family, but just another robot, with whom they have no real history, and all their shared memories are fake and repetitive for the sake of the story played for humans enjoyment. In general all the robots with conscience thing is very poorly represented and they just seem to adapt to the story as it goes, if one moment a host is very cold about a relationship with another host, the next moment, to prove a point they wanted to insert in the story, same character is very emphatic and hot headed about something else, even if they have their intelligence setted to an absolute high. The hosts just seem to develop personality traits randomly, with no logic, like the producers completely forgot the previous story and season, and they don't see the robots as robots anymore. And this is farfetched.
Also, SO MANY FLASHBACKS! Come on, can't you be interesting without playing ping-pong with time frames? After 3 episodes you still feel like you watched just one half of a first episode of the season, because the story is so stretched and hard to watch. And again, I get intelligent TV! But not excessively stupidly hard to watch tv! Otherwise it becomes the same as those abstract pretentious documentaries or "artistic" films that actually have no content and just a wanna be message. Like a piece of art with just a circle in the middle of a white background that people stare for hours at and pretend that piece of art is transmitting so much.
Another annoying thing, it feels so far like they threw at the garbage can the story with that brothel manager woman. She was the only interesting thing at the end of season 1 and I expected much more of her story.
Anyway, to me, the whole war and "feel sorry" for the poor robots with human feelings is annoying. Oh, mean ugly humans! How dared they show their true hidden thoughts, desires and pleasures in a controlled world build for that exact purpose?! ( <-SARCASM here) .But whatever.
