this movie is in class of its own!!!a Z class movie!!!
20 January 2008
I don't really know why some guy insists on hanging on to a camcorder and filming his beer buddies playing soldiers vs. monsters!!!it's plain silly!grow up!after seeing this i thought a six year old produced the movie!but then i realized that this is just wrong even for a child! To summarize :acting - bad ,story - bad,FX - horrible...what else remains? i gave it one star for two reasons: 1.the site won't let me give it a -10 and 2.one good thing:they've managed fairly accurate guns&uniforms!but that's all!So we must complain Hollywood is very childish and unrealistic when indie movies go far beyond that????The discussion is long but the cast&crew of this movie leaves me with the feeling that even if they would have had a triple budget this would still be rubbish!so long!watch this movie and see for yourself!

A very entertaining spy spoof
30 August 2007
This is no James bond. This has nothing to do with superheroes and supervillans(except the part with GOOD USA vs. EVIL SOVIET UNION).Its a gripping spy drama for the masses and the same time for the history buffs. The performances are very good on the behalf of Alfred Molina,Chris ODonnel and Rory Cochrane.Alessandro Nivola seems a bit out of pace. The real treat comes from Michael Keaton who goes stainless in his role. The action sequences and special effects are some of the best quality and i rate it just after band of brothers in the series branch. The show has a plus for the moments where the language of certain nationals is respected(the Russians speak Russian ,the Hungarians speak the Hungarian and the mobsters are so Sicilians). The big budget of the series is put to good use and the places you see in the movies are the ones where the things actually happened. There are little flaws for an epic of such proportions.I sense no TV feel in the image, sets, performances etc. so i must give this show a 10!job well done!

A good promise...
15 April 2007
This show brings a lot of promise and moments of simple good fun.I just saw the first two episodes and the special effects look nice, the soundtrack is awesome,scenario-decent.The cast is well picked.Nathan Fillion fits the bill very good as a leading man.''Drive'' is now a 8/10 for me.But like I said,it has its deal of promise and may become a truly great show if they don't spoil with the story. My concern is the rather very evasive storyline in what concerns the people behind ''The Race''.I don't hurry to judge considering I only saw two episodes. The cars are very well chosen and there is nothing very ''fast&furious'' scifi rocket things in them. The firebird is a kick-ass ride and so is the low-rider.I like Fillion's truck which seems to be as powerful as a dodge charger even though is rusty piece of junk!:)

Is there room for more greatness???
24 November 2005
I don't think that a better historical\action\drama can and will be made in a hundred years from now!Russell Crowe is great!Joaquin Phoenix makes me sick and that is true acting greatness!!!i saw him recently in a movie were he was a firefighter and all i could think about him was repulsive Commodus(which matter of fact existed!!!died in the arena too!!!)The battle scenes are spectacular(especially the one in the German forest),the soundtrack is magnificent(Lisa Gerrard goes sky-high on her performance). What can i say more? There is no cheesy American ending(the hero dies) and i think this is good because his family haunts him and he dies hopping he will rejoin them...You can see it's an American movie though but that is not a bad thing like in other productions were the Yankee-doodlers have spoiled history. The catch is that this movie does not claim to be historically correct...and so it is flawless!!!!ENJOY!!!MASTERPIECE!!!

One Romanian masterpiece
15 October 2005
This is a great Romanian movie...i am very subjective because i am Romanian...but anyone, with proper subtitles can enjoy this little masterpiece. It is not like other Nicolaescu's movies,it's more deep,it has a certain touch, a vibrant image that goes beyond the screen.Well directed, well played, tremendous script...what can i say more about it?It has nice FX for that age.Needles to say it benefits by the great great Amza Pellea an actor capable of turning rubble into stardust. He is the main character(Ipu) and his performance is ...how should i say...Oscar!!!Anyway i love the movie because it's alive,it's human and leaves you with a bittersweet taste..
