Uncut Gems (2019)
This movie is for everyone else but me
From the start this movie was overwhelming in the worst way possible. Everyone talking over each other, I can't imagine being the person who has to make those subtitles. I will say that I can tell a lot of people will love this movie but I am definitely not one of them. Adam Sandler felt only slightly different then what I've seen him play in his comedic roles, just chaotic. This role feels like it was written for him. The movie ended with me having so many questions about how things wrapped up. To anyone with anxiety, I do not recommend this movie. It was a very stressful suspense.
Endings, Beginnings (2019)
Sometimes you just need to be alone for a while
I love the message being sent with this movie. That being alone for while as difficult as it seems, might be the best thing for you. The acting from Shailene Woodly, as always was excellent. The editing wasn't my favorite, a lot of the same style used over and over again. A lot of close ups and watching people being introspective. Seeing people not movie their lips but hearing them talk and a few seconds later, actually seeing them while their talking. But the story was well written.
Radium Girls (2018)
Fascinating part of history I never knew about.
I love movies that tell about about tragic things that happened in history and this movie. The acting could have been a little better, Joey king (Bessie) has never showed me a lot depth in any characters I've seen her play. I've never been swept up in her sad scenes, she has always come off as naive girl to me with not a lot of life experience or tragedy to really pull that emotion from. Everything else about the movie was excellent though. I loved the story, and found it quite fascinating.
6 Years (2015)
Took me 6 years to finally watch it
I love romantic movies and this movies has been popping up on suggested movies on multiple platforms for me for years! I finally watched it and I was disappointed. For a break up story, it was bad. But I never been a huge fan of sad endings unless they are done really well. This was done well but not amazing. I definitely got the impression that they should not be together and their relationship was toxic. I don't understand how you could only be having the caliber of problems they were having at the end of their relationship. She had a abusive when drunk problem, he had a cheating problem. Those aren't problems that just happen suddenly after 6 years of being together...in my opinion. I just found myself asking the whole movie, how did this relay even reach 6 years.
The Assistant (2019)
In some ways unexpected
As a woman, I completely understand the struggles the main character is going though. I have had similar jobs with similar responsibilities. I feel like the movie did portray her difficulties well. I thought it was a good choice to never really show the man she worked for. I really need to remember to read descriptions of a movie as well because when I watched the trailer, I didn't feel like it showed that it was only one day in her life and so I spent a lot of the movie wondering why she was wearing the same shirt. It didn't feel like one day to me. It felt like several days. A lot happened in one day. I also didn't feel like a got a lot of back story on the character. I didn't get a lot about her as a person so that made it a little more challenging for me to really feel for her as a character. I didn't even know until half way through the movie what industry she was working in. I know what the movie was trying for, to make you come to conclusions without having to verbally explain it, but this movie did not do it that well. The acting was excellent. I like the story but I feel like it could have been told better. I also would have liked to have at least a little justice in the end, by at least her quitting her job. Like give me some hope for her life to improve.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)
Inspired me to learn more!
This movie was absolutely fabulous! It inspired me to want to learn more about the politics during the the Vietnam war and the war itself. The acting was excellent. It was refreshing to see a movie of this caliber that wasn't so packed full of award winning actors. I would give this movie a 9.5 rating.
