Irish Wish (2024)
Just like all the others, but worse.
This storyline has been beaten to death. The acting is subpar on everyone's part but especially Lindsay's! Seems she replaced all her acting skills with Botox. Awkward is the only word for her face and every line that comes out of it. Also, was it necessary to match her wardrobe to the awfulness of this film? My god! The costume designer needs to find a new career immediately.
I'm laughing at the spoiler question below for this one because obviously we all know how it ends... since these types all end exactly the same.
Oh and by the way Netflix, you need to change the genre to romance. That's all this is. Not even RomCom. There is zero comedy involved.
Dark Harvest (2023)
Waste. Just an all around waste.
You know those movies where you withstand it just to watch the no-talent teen actors meet a brutal and satisfying end? Yea, this isn't even worth that. Nor is it amusing to make fun of; it's that dumb.
The acting is awful on everyone's part. The pumpkin head monster is decently created but oddly reminded me of E. T. so that ruined any creep factor chance it may have had. The whole damn plot was weird and felt very hurriedly slapped together... almost like a bunch of horror amateurs were held at gunpoint and forced to write a story in less than an hour. It was difficult to follow and too painful to try.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Another wake-up call that will sadly go unheard for most ears.
I love these movies lately that point out just how foolish and doomed the human race is... and how they did it entirely to themselves.
Unfortunately, those who really need to have it sink in, who the movie is directing the "HELLO?! WAKE UP!" at, are also probably too dumb to even catch that. That's evident in the number of reviewers who were bored or confused by this.
It's a very WTF film, one mind-scrambling thing after another, but it's intriguing... kept me with it the whole time because I had to find out what on earth was happening! It was done well instead of messy. Unique issues and events were displayed, different than the norm, which was entertaining.
The actors helped keep me in this, especially Julia. If she's in something, I'm definitely giving it a chance. If you like the end-of-the-world themes and have an open and not-so-simple mind, you'll enjoy it.
The ending, while I most certainly didn't prefer it, showcases perfectly the type of people who will miss the whole damn point. No spoiler, just a helpful anecdote.
The D Train (2015)
Don't bother if you want to laugh
This is not a comedy. You'd think with the cast, you'd be laughing the whole way through, but I barely chuckled even once. The trailer makes it seem like it's a funny movie, but it's far more dramatic, and not even the good kind of drama. A little ways in, Black and Marsden end up having sex and it becomes all about how Black seems borderline in love with Marsden. The great actors in this chose a terrible plot with this one. Don't waste your time.
