Ang-ma-reul bo-at-da (2010)
Very nasty!
This is a story about extreme vengeance and is incredibly violent and nasty. My problem with the film is that I found the violence quite tiring to sit through during the duration of the film as there is quite a lot torturing. The main theme of the film is something I have seen before so that didn't seem super interesting to me - the idea that if you fight a monster you can end up becoming a monster. I thought that this film was very stylish in how the story was told, with some cool camera shots and some really good action scenes however in the end I found it hard to watch, but maybe that was the whole point. It's definitely not a film I would want to watch again though.
The Green Knight (2021)
Beautiful film!
This film has a great sense of mystery and visual intrigue which is very refreshing to see as I haven't really watched a lot of films like this. There are so many different ways to interpret a single scene which is fun to unpack if that's your thing otherwise it may seem nonsensical. Dev Patel was perfectly casted because he's so good at playing conflicting emotions at the same time - you know exactly what he's thinking without saying a word as his character is on his quest.
I wish I saw this film in the cinema because on a small screen it looks amazing, a really beautiful film to watch where some scenes feel like moving paintings. You easily get sucked into this world and that's why I enjoyed it so much. The ending sequence was the highlight for me, and I only wished we got see more of the supporting characters!
