Doctor Who: Smile (2017)
keeps getting better
WOW - this was one of the best episodes I have ever seen, although I will never send another emoji in my life . the story had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish - it had so many twists and turns , nearly blowing up what was left of the human race , how did he stop the slaughter , pressed the reset button , classic . I really think his new companion is going to hold her own with the best of those that have gone before her . I am so glad I have freeview plus - I will be watching it many times before the next instalment - I can't wait for the elephant on the thames . until then Whovians - KEEP SMILING
Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)
funny and still has scares
yet another excellent British horror movie from the 1960's . I was pleasantly surprised with the special effects from such an old movie , each segment had it's own brand of humour and horror , perfectly combined . and if it wasn't for the fact they all died , that would have made for a fantastic train ride , with so much talent in one place . I recently watched this movie again , on horror channel , & in my opinion it has not lost any of it's charm , and is still very watchable today - a true testament to the actors , writer , and director . it is very skilfully filmed , written , and acted . a true must have for all collectors of horror classics .
The Ninth Gate (1999)
bibliophile heaven
superb occult horror film , with a good solid cast - fantastic direction from Roman Polanski - deep story line - however as a bibliophile , most of my concentration was concerned with the book collections of the people Johnny Depp tracked down , in his quest to find the remaining copies of the ninth gate & I must admit I did shudder at the thought of how they handled the rare books , but as a horror movie it lived up to all expectations , and was quite fast moving from start to finish , I will be settling down with a couple of beers and a friend , to watch it again very soon.
Haunter (2013)
confused , but content
at first this film reminded me of most 80's horror movies I.E , not much happening in the first hour or so , but when the movie starts to tie together WOW - very original and very well acted , the story line was so well written and deep , I won't say it had me on the edge of my seat , but it did keep my attention , even though after the first 20 minutes I wasn't sure it would , but I am glad I stuck with it , sometimes it does pay off and you get to watch something surprisingly good. if you are a fan of psychological rather than all action slasher , then this is a film for you - think of groundhog day meets the others , and you will get my drift .
Withnail and I (1987)
best comedy / drama ever
if you have not watched this movie , then do so ASAP - this is the funniest and most quotable film I have ever watched , I have watched this movie at least a dozen times , and could quite happily watch it many more . Richard E Grant plays a particular good role as a drunk , especially because he is teetotal , every scene in this film is memorable and every line quotable in so many circumstances . every part is played to perfection 10/10 for all concerned both in front and behind the camera . if I have could have written one screenplay in my life , it would be this , this is also a very moving film & gets you thinking about life in general , the last scene is especially poignant , and brings you down from the high of the movie with a bang .
2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams (2010)
rubbish
the worst sequel ever - very forgettable - nothing more to say - not a patch on the 1st movie - wooden acting - and a very thin plot line , please don't waste time and money on this movie , I found no evidence of humour , or any real gore , even the plot line was wafer thin , it didn't help that the main character was played by a different actor , I found nothing redeeming in this movie what so ever
