Tim Allen: Men Are Pigs (1990)
Stale but Energized
Tim Allen reminds me of my dad, and probably reminds most white middle- class kids of their dad too. His humor relies mostly on bashing his wife, his mother, and women in general, but not neglecting to berate the shortcomings of himself and other men as well. It's a stale form of humor this day and age, but his energy on stage manages to makes it at least somewhat interesting to watch and even if I wasn't laughing I was at least smiling.
Rodney Dangerfield: Opening Night at Rodney's Place (1989)
A Decent Showcase of Comedy
I'm not familiar with Rodney Dangerfield's work, but from this TV movie alone I'd be willing to take a look at more of his stand-up or movies. The acts were all fairly good, with Jeff Foxworthy being my favorite of the bunch. The only one I didn't really enjoy was Larry Reeb, whose personality was off-putting and his delivery too dry for my liking. The skits could also go on for a bit too long, but the last one featuring Sam Kinison was probably my favorite part of the entire show. You'll enjoy this if you like Rodney Dangerfield, and I recommend it if you're into old-school comedy.
Continue?: Home Improvement (SNES) (2009)
A Bizarre Introduction
The first episode of one of my favorite web shows, Continue? came a long way from these humble beginnings. This episode suffers from a lot of early installment weirdness, most obvious being the absence of Paul Ritchey, fan-favorite and current "leader" of the gang. His absence is certainly missed, and Zane Bauer does little to stand out. The comedy is awkward and doesn't deviate much further from pointing out how weird the game is. Luckily the game they chose is truly strange, a Home Improvement Game where the first level is Tim Allen fighting dinosaurs with tools. Overall it's decent enough as an introduction, but the show only improves from here.
