Patton Oswalt: Annihilation (2017)
Patton Oswalt's Best Stand Up Show
I haven't been too impressed by Patton Oswalt's past few stand-up comedy films, but this one is, in my opinion, his best and most hilarious!
It's all comedy on or beyond the caliber of his famous KFC "Bowl of Sadness" routine. He somehow puts everything into perspective -- Trump, the world, the loss of his wife -- and does it with such wit and hilarity.
A must watch! 10/10
Kardashian: The Man Who Saved OJ Simpson (2016)
Contrived Speculation
This doc doesn't tell anything new, and it thus comes off as a cynical way for the producers to cash in on the new popular docudramas on the Simpson case as well as the Kardashian's daughters and ex-wife, who are now reality TV stars. Without a shred of concrete evidence, the doc has the nerve to state that the "bag" might have turned the whole case.
I've seen a lot of docs about the murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, and this one is the most pathetic, more shallow than an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, if you can believe that.
Vertigo (1958)
The Most Overrated Film of All Time
Vertigo is a decent film, but it is not the greatest film of all time. Far from it. Without Hitchcock's name attached to it, the film would be ranked far lower than it is. If you read all of the glowing, pretentious reviews of this film before you watch it, then you're likely setting yourself up for disappointment. Orson Welles thought Vertigo was a very bad film. I disagree. It's an okay film that's worth watching, but it's not worth the accolades that it has received from modern critics.
The Good: Jimmy Stewart. Bernard Herrmann's score. Some of the scenery.
The Bad: It drags along, then drags some more. Midge - Why was she even in this film? A plot that is predictable, yet convoluted.
