Gladiator (2000)
Gladiator, proves that love prevails above all
Gladiator for me is Ridley Scott's finest work. It is credible to state that alien was fantastic but for me this is his greatest achievement in film. Gladiator holds a message within which is never give in, or give up when your cause is worthy, and we can see that Maximus's cause is more worthy than any. Crowe is nothing short of world class in portraying to us the character of Maximus. Yes he is a born fighter and general of Rome, yet he loves his family more than anything and only wants to live peacefully with them. It is because of this that the audience can understand Maximus's drive for redemption, regained respect and vengeance for his family. The battle scenes for me show how Maximus fights with his heart and nothing else, he slays the fighters for his family, he wins the crowd for his family and gains his vengeance. Lisa Gerrard's "Now we are free" creates an overwhelmingly emotional end to the film and had me in tears for the first time ever in a film. Gladiator is nothing short of a masterpiece and shows that despite all the endless rubbish that has come out of Hollywood over the past ten years there are still gems and films to remembered for a long time, and Gladiator is certainly one of them.
Accepted (2006)
Its far better than most people think
I hadn't been to the cinema for quite a while and when i did finally go Accepted was what i decided to see. Essentially accepted is not the deepest, meaningful film you'll ever see but i think its main strong point is that it is extremely easy to relate to, not just for American teenagers but in many countries worldwide. The idea of failure has always been something that scares people, however "Accepted" brings a light heartiness to it and shows even though you may fail, you can still succeed. Justin long is clearly the star of the show and carries along the plot nicely with satire and sarcasm all thrown in while still playing a serious role. I wont give to much away about this movie but i highly recommend close attention is paid to the dean of the new college as that is where the major laughs of this film can be found. Blake lively is simply smokingly hot in this film and compliments Long's performance, this is also true of Columbus short and Jonah hill playing his closest friends. This film may not be as good as "The departed" in the box office right now but i think it gets my vote as giving you your money's worth.
Gekijôban Poketto Monsutâ: Myûtsû no Gyakushû (1998)
Reminds me of the good old days, could have been better but still very good.
Looking back to years gone by, well 6 years now when i used to love Pokemon at the age of 10, like 99% of 10 year olds at the time. I had the cards, the games you name it i had it but the one thing from it i never got was the movies, i saw the first one in the cinema once but that was about it. So too see it again 6 years on after reviewing classic films, not so classic films etc i think it put me in good stead to judge it, starting with pikachu's vacation. The only thing I can really say about this little pre-movie is that it is nothing more than something with a moral as had this been the standard for the movie all the way through i would of sent the DVD back, also i feel a few of the characters are mixed up such as ash having a pidgeotto after i thought he left it many months before, aside from that its not really watchable unless you are about 4, thankfully though the movie is a very different story.
With Mewtwo the clone of Mew being created it added an obvious hint that the film wasn't going to be childish like pikachus vacation. The plot is not fantastic but it rarely is, besides from that it still has that Pokemon feel about it. Mewtwo really was the star of the show in this one with a commanding voice which flowed well with the movie. At times the movie can be quite predictable but considering it was mostly aimed at children it hasn't done badly at all. The character of mew is as my sister put it ''cute'' with the windmill scene and is often amusing.
Pokemon had possibly one of the biggest ever franchises to create a film from, i don't feel they most the most of it however the film was very good and absolutely fantastic in very short bursts. Some say the franchise died after this supposedly disappointing film however i believe for its target audience it was extremely well done. In terms of being the best of how ever many they have made, i would say not quite as the 3rd one surpasses it in every way but to finalise I believe if you used to love Pokemon in younger years and want to experience what it felt like, if only for a while, watching this isn't a bad way to start.
L.A. Confidential (1997)
A fantastically and detailed example of how a film should be made
L.A confidential at first seems like a one of those films that has an all star cast, big names but not really anything special e.g oceans eleven with Pitt, Clooney, Damon and Julia Roberts. Taken into consideration L.A Confidential excels at using each member of its talented cast to the best of their abilities to create an intriguing watch which one might argue helped these actors to go onto make such fantastic film as Crowe in Gladiator, Spacey in American Beauty, Pearce in the count of Monte cristo. L.A confidential managed to surprise me with a variety of different characters from the troubled hardy Bud white to the lifestyle of high class Prostitute Lynn. I don't actually want to give anything away about this film as i feel to thoroughly enjoy it you must watch it from start to finish without really knowing a thing about it. I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys an intriguing, thrilling and extremely well acted picture.
The Jerky Boys (1995)
A highly Underrated watch, hilarious in parts
To be fair the title itself doesn't really get this film off to the best of starts and i was not really impressed by the DVD case or anything about it, however never judge a book by its cover, as i came to find out. The jerky boys main strength lies in the quality of 'Gangster accents'' portrayed by the lead characters. The whole idea of two 30 year old men sitting round making obscene and very funny phone calls all day would in principle sound like an unattractive watch. In saying this though the jerky boys has some hilarious moments which left me and my father in fits of laughter, (no exaggeration),. IN terms of a plot the jerky boys doesn't come off so well which is why all included i feel it overall deserves a 6. To conclude if your looking for a quick laugh, nothing special or something funny to watch with friends I highly recommend the jerky boys.
Green Street (2005)
'Im forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air, the fly so high up to the sky and like my dreams they fade and die'
First of green street as it is called in the Uk or the less adeptly named 'Hooligans' is one of those films that is just simply fantastic. It had been the talk of my form and amongst friends at school yet I simply never found the window of opportunity to see this film. Now I'm glad that I did.
The actor who portrays the protagonist of green street Elijah Wood pulls of a damn near flawless performance as Ameican Matt Buckner, and pulls every bit away from his spellbinding role in The Lord of the rings, but to a finely attuned one which soon grows on you. He is without doubt the star of the show with acting that truly, truly shows his skill and talent. As with all films however one actor cant make a truly fantastic film. Wood is complimented with another truly fantastic performance from Charlie Hunnam. Hunnam again is an example of how fantastic these actors are in that they pulled away from their own characters and presented the audience with 100% believable characters with strength, depth and heart. The character Hunnam plays (Pete Dunham)is one of the characters who becomes such a vital and integral part of the film that he really does leave the trademark of a great performance, in that he becomes truly infallible in his role. The way the story shows Pete Dunham's guidance and care for Matt Buckner in a gradual progression is a true asset to the actors and adds to just how fantastic this film is. To finish on a positive note about the actors, the majority of which are all relatively unknown, however with only 1 relatively red carpet name the actors create an ensemble worthy of at least an Oscar or two which i feel isn't represented fairly by the academy. However this is irrelevant to my personal love for the film.
I don't want to give to much away about this film but the music that is included is nothing short of a sublime compliment to the films assets. Terrance jay's music truly does do the most seldom of things and fit the film in every respect with lyrics, backing and rhythm. The film gives of an emotional feel that again is complimented by this music and helps to portray the wider message this film contains. I myself live in the U.K and can say that a lot of the scenes in this are indeed true. The film helps to show the true passion of some fans which is inexplicable yet so evident and a prominent part of our culture.
Although the exterior of the film portrays a bunch of hooligans who support their club with their minds, passion, fists and hearts the interior goes much deeper than this. The film truly shows that even the most different people can learn to grow with each other and give their lives for something that would seem ridiculous yet means everything to them. The film gives the moral that you should always stand your ground and fight for what your heart truly believes in and a ironically a gang of football hooligans was the best way to portray this.
To conclude Greent street is no simple film about hooligans, it is a rare film with a fantastic story, message and ending which are all so seldomly seen in todays industry. I truly hope Lexi Alexander and all involved will pick up some recognition for this fine work and that it will not slip into the endless line of films which are made, seen and forgotten. For me Brokeack mountain, crash, the constant gardener and such others as Capote come 2nd place in 2005's best film. For me if people can truly see the message this film gives then hopefully they can recognise its unique and sublime existence. Green street is for me the best film of 2005 and probably one of the most underrated films in todays industry. And all i can do is hope that it can stand its ground on IMDb and everywhere else.
Final Destination 2 (2003)
Great for watching with a few friends, not on your own and oh, Disgusting!!!!
I haven't actually seen the first final destination, but there's a part of me that doesn't really want to....., this film to say the least is very very , unappetising. To be fair it is a crying wonder how final destination 2 merited anything less than an 18 certificate yet managed a 15. I am 16 years old and this is one of the most visually repulsive films i have EVER SEEN.The storyline to say the least is mediocre at best but this film is just pure entertainment. Despite the moments of grotesque gore such as people getting their heads decapitated by a lift and impaled by ladders and crushed into a thousand pieces by pained glass, it is great to watch. Final Destitation 2 really is a film of consistent foreboding in that whatever comes next, you have been expecting but not in the fashion that it does. The acting again is mediocre and far from special and overall this fails as a film to really frighten you, however in terms of shocking you with extreme violence FS2 excels. I think if you are looking for a scary horror film then Fs2 isn't really a recommended choice, however if you love films with ridiculous gore this should be top of the list. I am the type of person who loves such films as Shawshank and LOTR but i feel it never hurts to see the occasional gory shocker. Simply for shocking gore and pure entertainment and fantastic ways off killing 7/10.
My Dog Skip (2000)
Heart Warming only second of an animal film to Homeward Bound
I'm going back a good few years now as to when my mother first bought My dog skip on VHS. What i can remember is, is that this along with homeward bound is an animal classic, but in a much different fashion. My dog skip truly shows the relationship a boy can have with his dog which i know of all to well as i have a jack Russel terrier myself who i have been with for the past 6 years.
My Dog skip shows how a young boy (Muniz) can grow up needing a friend. The film shows how growing up can initially be hard and at times lonely, even for anyone. Like Homeward bound, Skip attempts to portray the fantastic relationship between man and dog. The films only downfall at times is that it shows the speedy progression in quality of life for the protagonist and how he develops a contrasting relationship with some of his friends in comparison with how they were before.
I don't plan to talk all day however in summary My dog skip is a great watch, with admittedly some very tear jerking moments. I recommend this film to all dog lovers and people who liked such films as Homeward Bound My dog skip - 8/10.
The Bone Collector (1999)
Surprisingly Entertaining
It was only through chance that i saw this film as my brother has broken his leg and i decided to see what he was watching. I caught the Bone collector. The Bone Collector is a Fantastic film which never lacks in suspense, drama or solid acting. Angelina Jolie portrays a New York city cop who starts out as a youth cop and turns to detective. Throughout the Film she maintains a fantastic accent, good looks and a thoroughly good performance, the best of hers that i have seen to date.
The Story unfolds with Denzil Washington's character befalling upon an accident leaving him severely handicapped and virtually crippled from the neck down. It is in this Role Washington steals the show portraying a severely disabled character with solidity, courage and in places light humour. The bone collector really struck me back as to how good it became, with the murders and crime scenes become better as the film proceeds. I feel the Bone collector however lacks a truly fantastic script docking it 2 points from the full marks. However in saying this I highly recommend this film to many people but not for the daytime. The Bone Collector is a fantastic film but by no means a classic, however with superb acting, great suspense and seldom boring. If you wish to see Jolie at her true best with Denzil Washington nothing short of amazing i suggest you watch this. 8/10
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Pure and utter class, the royal of Films
Pulp fiction, pulp fiction, pulp fiction it never gets tiring, what a film, nothing short of class. Since i first joined IMDb I've noticed that 1994 wasn't a bad year for films with forest gump along with my favourite film of all time the Shawshank Redemption. As well as these two gems came Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
Pulp fiction is one of those films which truly lives up to its reputation. The Film is so intricately detailed it blows your mind and gives you the 100% factor that all films crave, which is Entertainment. The characters of Vincent and Jules are so well portrayed and presented by Jackson and Travolta the characters really begin to grow on you. Normally there is a lead protagonist in many films, however pulp fiction follows the stories of just 3 with the same characters in different scenes and times. Pulp fiction's actual story is at first very confusing yet i feel this adds to the overwhelming sense that this is ' Pulp Fiction', it needs no explaining. When i first saw this film I got nothing less in quality than i expected , but a completely different film experience. The dialogue in this film along with the accents is unsurpassed with such classic lines as (POTENTIAL SPOILERS) ' I don't dig on swine sa'll' and ' You hear that billy boy??'' and of course the classic 'Royal with cheese'.
Pulp Fiction is occampanied with truly fantastic fast flowing music to go hand in hand with the films unique often in my case unexplainable genre. So from this the one thing that can be deduced from Pulp Fiction is that it is truly unique with innovative ideas and audience pleasing scenes. Bruce Willis takes on a surprising role in the form of Butch the boxer trying to scam his way past big time heavy Marcellis Wallace. I don't wish to give to much away in this review as i think its harsh on many people, however i can say Uma Thurman looks by far at her most visually stunning in her first film - big break. She portrays the character of Mia beautifully with believable, often at times sexy methods at steering away from her true personality.
It would be fair to say Quentin Tarantino has created a true gem for the film world with a truly fantastic script, fantastic dialogue and ultimately great acting. Pulp Fiction really is a Royal with cheese 10/10
Intolerable Cruelty (2003)
Confusing, I have Tolerence for this, ud be rather harsh not to.
I saw Intolerable cruelty last night on ITV and i expected a rather good, average film, this is pretty much what i was given. Catherine Zeta Jones looks stunning as she always does and again gives a performance that has no trace of her welsh roots or accent (i should know i live in Swansea where she grew up. It would be fair to say that Intolerable Cruelty is a well thought out film however it is very confusing in parts. I feel however that this film is by no means terrible or intolerable it is an easy to watch picture with some enjoyable moments. I do tend to give a lot of spoilers in my reviews however i plan not to in this one. George Clooney is the star of the show with a great portrayal of an attorney desperately trying to get his woman. Intolerable Cruelty is an easy to watch well made film with surprising moments but is buy no means confusing. I recommend Intolerable Cruelty to chick flick lovers as an easy watch but not really for those who are into action movies. Overall i feel this deserves a healthy 6/10.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
Absolutely Fantastic, truly stunning.
Like its two counterparts i find it almost impossible to give this lower than a ten. I would say however that this is the worst of the three but worst is not a word i like to use when dealing with such an Amazing film. The two towers is unsurprisingly visually stunning in every respect and we see the first Motion capture technology put in to film using gollum. After producing a outstanding wonderfully filmed first instalment peter Jackson had to follow up with something truly stunning, he did. The two towers follows of from where the fellowship left off and brings the film to the forefront with spellbinding special effects. The film follows the split up members of the fellowship and charts their journeys through middle earth all in the hope to do the most impossible of tasks and destroy the ring. Mortensen, bloom, Mckellen , wood and Sean Austin along with all other actors involved are again nothing short of perfect in portraying their characters to tell the story. The Two towers was the one film that we anticipated for a whole year and we were not let down with something as intricate and gripping as it was. Considering everything else in the film it is Andy Serkis that steals the show for the two towers in my view presenting the character of gollum in such an amazing way that you again become lost in the story. To add to the already finely done scenes before it Jackson produces the unforgettable battle of helms deep. This is without a doubt where the two towers became most gripping, emotive and visually stunning and the way it unfolds is truly, truly brilliant helping the 2nd instalment roll into the third. The two towers may in essence not be as good as Amon hen and Moria in the fellowship or the ride of the Rohirrim in the Return of the King but i feel it is still a true masterpiece of film making and kept the trilogy as strong as ever. The Two Towers in my view deserves nothing less than 10/10.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Majestic, spellbinding and truly Amazing way to start the greatest Trilogy
The Lord of the Rings The fellowship of the Ring is first and foremost a complete masterpiece in every respect, this created my love for Tolkien's work and introduced me to the most fascinating world ever created in a book. The Lord Of The Rings books are in themselves such intricate, unique and timeless classics it would be fair to state that whoever took on the responsibility for these films was up for a tremendous task. Many people may find this unusual but it was the film that introduced me to the books and at the time showed me just how good a film can truly be. It is hard to explain how really damn good this film is without first seeing it but i can say it deserves its place in one of the top 15 films ever made. The job Jackson does on this picture is truly amazing to say the least. His confidence to try mirimax and various other film companies to get a three film deal portrays his true devotion to these films and this ambition to create amazing works of film shines through. The Film from start to finish captures the magic of Tolkien's work in 3 hours of non-stop entertainment, ride of emotions and belief in the characters. The Fellowship of the Ring in effect picks up where 'the Hobbit' novel leaves of. We sees the main Character Frodo Baggins embark on the start of what will prove to be a long, emotive truly outstanding journey filled with love and Freindship. Beginning in the lowly free land of the Hobbits, the shire, we see the story unfold until Frodo begins his journey after a 17 year possession of the ring of Power eventually acquiring 8 companions to help him with this overwhelming task. The Fellowship i feel is the true heart of the trilogy and set of The Lord of the rings on its way to world fame in film. Elijah Wood portrays the character of Frodo so much to the extent that you become lost into the film. I feel however despite fantastic performances from Orlando bloom, Ian Mckellen and most noticeably Sean Austin, Viggo Mortensen Shines through in the role of Aragorn showing his character with strength passion and emotion. The Lord of The rings The Fellowship Of the Ring is a story of love, companionship, fantasy, courage and friendship and is vital to anybody who wishes to create a perfect collection of films because the Fellowhip truly deserves a place. This film is the true gem of the early decade and i hope it will remain timeless like its 2 counterparts.
Schindler's List (1993)
Powerful, Fantastically scripted, grabs life from the claws of death, stunning.
I have never seen Schindler's list in the comfort of my own home, i have recently finished watching it in school as a holocaust memorial. After seeing this film highly rated on IMDb i eagerly anticipated the watching of it, i was not let down. This is without a doubt the greatest of Spielberg's achievements in film making. It is beautifully brought to the forefront of the screen with care, devotion and stunning acting to portray the harsh reality that was taking place in under Nazi rule in the 1940's. Liam Neeson's performance stands alone as one of the greatest solo performances on screen for a long time. Neeson portrays the amazing man of Oskar Schindler with such regard for the qualities needed he becomes infallible in his role. It would be unjust to say that powerful scenes are lacking and are seldom shown, i feel some scenes create such emotion you feel for the characters involved. To briefly state why i felt this film deserved 9 not 10 is that i felt it just missed something, nothing significant but just something that could of brought this film towards perfection. It really strikes you that the scenes being portrayed throughout the film were real- life events, in some cases worse. I feel Schindlers list moral is in a small way similar to The shawshank redemption, the true film masterpiece, which gives a message of hope. I feel in Schindlers list this message is true to that of many Jews but also of how a man can change, how one person can change and do the most remarkable things. To finish of this review to give all credit to this film, to tell no lies this was the first time and probably only time i saw a class completely and utterly captivated by a film, which i feel in itself is evidence that this film is truly stunning.
Blackball (2003)
A Damn Good Watch!!!!
When first being sent this film for Christmas by a few family friends it didn't really strike me as the type of film that i should devote my time to watching, (never judge a book by its cover) , as i always do when doing History work for my upcoming GCSE's i decide to watch a film. Normally this is Shawshank or Pulp fiction or a classic of that nature. Yesterday i decided to crack open Blackball, and i wasn't disappointed. Paul Kay provides in my view his personally career topping performance with a great portrayal as Cliff Starky, with most surprisingly Johnny Vegas pulling of a decent film role. This portrayal of bowls brings a witty, humorous and overall shining side to the sport of bowls and shows that some sports need to escape from their stereotypical, pod so to speak. Vince Vaughn provides a great supporting feature to the film with witty comments and great dialect to bring to live the humour of the film. The film also adds a bit of spice with Alice Evans giving a solid at times attractive performance as Kerry speight and helps the film run smoothly. I feel the real star of the show was James Cromwell who really put this film up from a 2-3 to a 7 showing his experience as and actor and portraying Ray speight perfectly. All together i feel this is a great watch lacking a fantastic plot with witty good humoured fun and at times a very good laugh. I highly recommend you at least give this British film (my proud country :) a try :).
Going Overboard (1989)
Complete and utter Rubbish, the films me and my friend make surpass this garbage
I remember when my father bought our new panasonic DVD player around 2 years back, being 14 at the time I thought that this could be an interesting laugh, .......... ITS unwatchable and only funny to laugh at, at best. I wont ramble on for too long about this complete and utter waste of money but i recommend if you see this film in your collection hide it or chuck it out honestly i found this film that bad. I'm glad to see Adam sandler has made far better films than this since such as Big Daddy, thankfully they didn't follow this. On IMDb I'm usually quite generous to films upping their scores to what i think is more than deserved in many cases. 1 is all this film deserves. Adam sandler contributes a truly horrible performance and i really find it remarkable 140 people have given this a 10 ????????? each to there own but the only thing i can say is my 22 year old bro recently broke his leg and started to watch this, after 10 minutes he was watching The day after tomorrow, all that needs to be said.
The Waterboy (1998)
An entertaining film for one-two time viewing, nothing special though
The waterboy has at its helm a reasonably talented actor of Adam Sandler which brings the film to life. In parts it would be fair to say this film is hilarious with the consistent foul language most noticeably the chant of ''Needle dick'', etc. This film is unforgivably flawed however by the lack of a decent plot which solely relies on American humour. Being from the UK however I found many parts of the film amusing at least to watch but seldom was i left in stitches. Again the whole idea of a Waterboy becoming a fully fledged, amazing football player is implausible to the audience but in doing so adds to the ridicule of the film which creates its humour. In summary this film is just worth a watch but buy no means a classic.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Deserves a nine because its like finding that last piece of the jigsaw, Outstanding.
Well what can i say about this final and 2nd best instalment by George Lucas. Easily the best of the three prequels. The Special effects on this movie are simply stunning and deserve grave merit. Hayden Christiansen Pulls of the role of Anakin Skywalker in this movie with supremacy and a much better sense of maturity than in episode 2. Ewan Mcgregor pulls of again an amazing performance which i feel he has maintained through all three films uniquely unlike many other characters. It would be fair to say Lucas has more than done justice to one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the last decade. This is by far the most well thought out, visually stunning of all the movies and brings together the 5 other movies surrounding it. Ian mcdiarmid is Simply amazing as Sidious (Palpatine) and despite his Physical Disposition pulls of believable Choreograpohy in the fight scene with Yoda and most noticeably Mace windu. It is the Way he manoeuvres sidious's manipulative claw toward turning Anakin to the Dark side that he excels at and as ever has the fantastic deep croaky almost evil voice. It is really this performance that slams the fact into the viewers face that Sidious is the bad guy and not Anakin or Vadaras he is later known. Throughout the early Parts of the film the connection between Mcgregor and Hayden Christiansen is fantastic and portrays the close relationship between Anakin and Obi-wan which they have built up between each other. The main factor that separates this feature from the others is that it brings together all the other films and ties them up with for once outstanding acting and as always state of the art special effects ultimately backed up by a fantastic script. This film may not be up with the Likes of The shawshank Redemption or The return of the King but the way it brings the rest of them together, as a whole it isn't very far of. This is why i feel Lucas's Final piece deserves a 9.
Four Brothers (2005)
Fantastic film and plot that only lacks in few areas
As me and my friends do at the end of a school week about 20-30 of us go to see a film - film Friday to take away the harrowing annoyance of gcse coursework and such things a 15-16 year old boy hates. So before much debate i decided (from reviews on this site) that deuce biggalo:European giggalo would be a waste of time and money.
After deciding to see four brothers i knew that it is money well spent. I don't plan to give too much away but this film provides a strong sense of family love from 4 completely contrasting yet unduly close people. It is a film with little if no special effects yet fantastic fight scenes filled with courage, determination and wit.
Overall this film originally seemed a mundane plot of four people out seeking revenge but when you go to see it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
There is only one thing that drops this score to 8 and that is that you never find out why the killing took place and exactly who committed the killing, but still cracker of a film!
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)
A film you can watch when your feeling down. ''A story about courage adventure and friendship.''
I first saw this film when i was around 6 or 7 years old and didn't really think it was anything particularly special. AS time went on i watched it a few more times and it started to grow on me as i started to understand the morals of the film, which i will come to later. For a while i left this film alone and didn't watch it for a while. When looking for an old classic film to watch a few weeks ago (now being 15), I dug out the VHS of homeward bound. After watching this i was left on a natural high that i couldn't really explain. The film gives an overwhelming sense of joy that you never really expect. The films nature of three completely different animals collaborating together to find their way home really sends a message home that no matter how different you are you can always find common ground, something that you all need. The way the personalities of the characters is chosen is truly fantastic. In that you have an old knowledgeable wise golden retriever, looking after or guiding 'chance' the fun loving if slightly clumsy young American bulldog, with sassy the clever, vulnerable but confident cat. The film follows these three friends or companions on a journey that is so realistically impossible it creates magic in that you start to believe that this journey can happen.
I don't want to sound like a soft tissue grabber when it comes to films i assure you i am quite the opposite, but the most uplifting part of this film is without a doubt shadows return, when shadow desperately tries to escape and chance and sassy, painfully are told by him to leave. When both animals return to their beloved owners there is a silence until shadow limps over the horizon to the awe of all. There is a fine line between heartwarming and corny rubbish but this film is pure magic even at the age of 15. This film may not be Lord of the rings but for Disney to produce such a fantastic film using animals and for it to uplift myself in the way it does even at this age it deserves 10/10.
Land of the Dead (2005)
Very good film, goretastic!!
When first me and about 20 other friends planned to see this film for a good night out, we expected a typical stereotyped ghost film. Being just old enough (15) to see the movie one thing we all agreed was that this merited an 18 certificate.
AS this has only just been released I wont give away any spoilers but if u wince at the sight of blood and are faint hearted this is not, i repeat not the film for you. To summarise well worth £5.80 and makes a great night out, i recommend it to all fun seekers. If your planning on eating any food of any kind during this film, don't! this film is full of shocking moments which will make you jump but you will just have to go and see this it to find out where they are.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Excellent sequel to the first with a well thought out plot.
''Spiderman'' 2002 was fantastic but for me only gained 8/10 on a whole. Spiderman 2 is one of those rare films which outclasses its prequel in many respects such as the part where peter parker has to decide who he is and whether being spiderman is the right path to take. Everything from the first sequence with Joes 29 minute guarantee rush to the twist of harry Osbourne finding his fathers green goblin equipment at the end keeps the mind of the viewer well and truly interested at every stop.
My personal favourite moment is the train sequence with doc oc and spidey. When first viewing this part of the film the exhilaration is eminent and frequent and overall truly fantastic. I also loved the way it seemed that the doctor (not doc oc or Connors the one peter goes to see about his problems) and aunt may at some point in the film seemed to know peter was spiderman but does not really let on to the audience.
Overall a great sequel with good fights, good plot, romance and great music!!
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
What a Way to end, Truly amazing and one of the best films ever made
Truly a masterpiece. This film was more than worthy of its 11 Oscars. The fellowship was stunning, the two towers was inspiring but the return of the king was truly the greatest film i have ever seen. The thing that is most amazing about the return of the king is that it fills the jigsaw of its predeceors and does it with such epic granduer emotion, and inspiration that i know very few people who were not amazed by it. I myself have read the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien and in light of this can say that this film has to be one of the adaptations in recent times. Peter Jackson, I feel simply could not have done a better job in using the beautiful new zealand landscape to portray Tolkien's vision.
Without a doubt the speech, roars and sheer numbers of the rohirrim at the pellennor charge in the sunset is truly the greatest sequence of film i have ever seen. People say the ending is too long, I say it was perfect as it gave a heart felt and fitting deneaumont, and ended a truly remarkable trilogy that will not be soon forgotten.
