Lebanese filmmaker Ziad Doueiri needs no introduction, having directed a series of successful films over the years. While "West Beirut" will forever remain my favorite movie, his latest effort, "The Insult", further confirms his skill as a talented storyteller. In short: it's one of the most intense Lebanese movies I've ever seen. What makes "The Insult" so good is the way Doueiri takes a seemingly ordinary situation and builds a web of suspense around it. Adel Karam (in one of the best performances of his career) plays Toni, a Lebanese christian who can't seem to let go of the past. One day, he gets into a heated argument with a Palestinian worker (played by an excellent Kamel El Basha), which leads to a domino-like sequence of unpredictable events. Doueiri masterfully explores the dark side of each character, especially as it relates to patriotism, politics, and the consequences of taking revenge. I'd say this is Doueiri's specialty, and the sense of discomfort he creates throughout this exceptional film will hold you in its grip at every turn. And when it ends, it leaves us with much food for thought, something that's been missing from most recent Lebanese films. Having been criticized so many times for not supporting local movies, it's refreshing to finally encounter something worth recommending. Ziad Doueiri's "The Insult" is a terrific achievement.

I saw all of Wes Andersons movies but this one was by far the best! I really enjoy watching bill Murray and i think he's one the best actors, and he proved me right in Rushmore. I thought Jason Shwartzman was extremely talented and really funny and also this is by far his best movie.

The story itself is very well told and worth watching plus the performances were excellent and creative.Even Luke Wilson who doesn't appear much in the movie was funny during his appearance.

All i can say is this is one of the best movies of 1998 and its easy to see why...

I don't know why people would care about this movie. The actors are stupid the story is more stupid and so bad. If you wanna sleep this is the movie for you.It doesn't make any sense plus the ending was so predictable and empty.

I don't care about a story like this and i guess no one wants to see this movie at all.

Where are all the good movies? We're filled with bad movies these days and this one is the best worst movie...

I Wanna see some good movies from now not some stupid teen comedy who's definitely not funny at all.

A poor dialogue in this prequel.The actors did a good job imitating Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels, but the story itself is really bad.Some laughs but for a limited time. At least the first one had a funny story. I think they shouldn't have done a second movie who ruined the image of the first one.

I saw this movie in july 2003 but i had the chance to see it again in 2006 on TV and it was worse from watching it in a movie theater.At least in a theater you cant sleep. I really felt like sleeping because its not enjoyable at all. I gave this a 3 just not to destroy the actors future...Good luck

No doubt about it, this movie touches you in many ways, its funny , its sad, its enjoyable, you won't be disappointed. Ewan Mc Gregor is a brilliant actor that captures the eye. Albert Finney is a master and a legend himself. Crudup is also enjoyable as the son of Edward Bloom who also played a brilliant part in Almost Famous.What about Dany Devito as the funny circus guy? The cast is superb from all the corners. As for Tim Burton , he's a genius and he showed the world that he truly loves the public by presenting his masterpiece. The ending was absolutely magical and reminded me of my late grand father : how he touched all those people during his life and no one would ever forget him and would still talk about his adventures even after he's gone!

So don't hesitate buy it enjoy it then watch it again and show it to all of your friends again and again because its not everyday that you'll see such movie like this...

I had the chance to see this movie the first day it was released. I was waiting for this movie for months and i certainly wasn't deceived. First the actors were great specially ed Harris as the villain , he was so creepy with his dead eye. As for Mortensen i enjoyed all his movies but this one was really special. Then , the story itself was awesome and unique , not a moment of boredom in this one honestly.

And the ending , oh the ending!! a magnificent family image that concludes the most enjoyable movie of 2005...Can't wait to buy it when it will be released on DVD!

In august me and some friends went on a trip to the mountains for the weekend and we brought with us this particular movie to watch it the same night. Me and the guys just love scary movies and we were exited to watch this one. During the movie i felt that no one was enjoying this but no one spoke till the end of the movie. Our first impression was oh my god? who's idea was that? is this really supposed to be scary? In brief our night was ruined by this clumsy boring movie that i wouldn't give this more then 1 star over 10 and u'll do the same when you watch but i don't recommend you because u'll be wasting your time...and get this , another movie was also made by the same director and its called alone in the dark and i also had the bad luck to watch it and its better than this one. So i just wanna say when you think a video game is cool , it doesn't really mean we have to watch the movie about the game...
