Drive (2019)
The early 2000s wants its movie back!
When the man(Karan) behing SOTY2 thinks a movie is that bad to have a theatrical release then, just assume the worst.
You will get a sense of deja vu while watching this movie, feel like you have seen it before. You're not wrong, you have seen it all before in the early 2000s- Torque, Italian Job, Fast and the Furious and even our very own Dhoom. All the plots from the aforementioned movies put together = Drive.
The story or the lack thereof isn't the only problem, the actors seem disinterested, there is no energy in what is supposed to be a fast paced/high octane plot(?). All the twists and turns, you will see them coming a mile way. The VFX is terrible, the first Need for Speed game had better graphics. There is a scene towards the end where Sushant is standing at the edge of a bridge with his car, the graphics there will remind you of Road Rash (the pc game) .
Alas! I thought Netflix would at least invest my Rs 800 into good independent content but it wasn't to be. Netflix India seems hell bent on pandering to the mediocrity of Johar & Co.
Brendan Schaub: You'd Be Surprised (2019)
U'd be surprised I am NOT interested in your CBD oil!
I wasn't initially planning on writing a review for this since he is a new comedian. Thought will cut him some slack! But since Schaub has started bribing people for good reviews, I had to restore balance to the universe.
For a person who claims to not read or be interested in comments, he sure does love his paid reviews. Now thats comic! Comic! Something blatantly missing in the COMEDY special. One of his jokes -" I wad drinking a slurpee and folks in Texas were looking at me. Hahaha!". Another one - "I was wearing tight pants, folks in Texas were looking at me, hahaha!". Oh btw this was his SPECIAL! Utter insult to the profession.
Student of the Year 2 (2019)
3 Idiots of the Year
Disclaimer: No spoilers to give out! You already know the story.
Costumes, locations - 10/10
Script - 0/10
Acting - 2/10
The movie tries to be Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar really hard but fails miserably. The movie has no heart and fails to hold your attention unlike Jo Jeeta. Tiger, yet again has the same one tone dialogue delivery and expressions and the same goes for Tara and Ananya.
The film has flashy songs, costumes and acrobatics galore. The director wants you, the audience to cheer for Tiger, whose body is broken in half in a Kabaddi match(?) but Tiger's lack of acting range makes even that impossible. You could probably pop into the theatre post the interval and still get the story or the lack thereof!
So, wait for it to come out on platforms like Netflix or Prime. Save your money!
