It's an action movie and it knows it
1 June 2023
I only have one problem, so let's get that out the way first. I don't like a motion picture ending like a TV series ending a season. This one is even moreso an issue because way too many open plot lines. However, unless they've already shot part two to this tenth installment, they can't bank on everyone still living IRL to be around next time. Understand? So, I hope they've already filled it and cut it in half.

Now, I did like the movie. Toretto drive hell out of some cars. Not sure how street racing prepared him to use cars the way he does, but sure. All suspension of belief must be left at the door and turn off the brain. Be entertained and see what the story is trying to do. Coming off watching Sisu, not sure I'm digging the villain here. So, he's going the Joker from Dark Knight here, times two. What I mean is, he poses so many questions and all of the just so happens and things left here and there was if he could know who'd be where ahead of time. Lex Luthor is a great villain, but even he couldn't prepare this all ahead of time, especially explosives in certain places.

Too many cameos, unless there's a part two to this tenth installation. I don't do spoilers, but twice I rolled my eyes on a reveal. Oh, Dom was given a choice that I disagreed with because the other option was more valuable, but the plot said that his choice has a connection to him greater than the other option. Without spoilers, you know it when you see it in Brasil. Also, how they travel so much but have cars when they touch down is funny, but this series of movies says it ok. I gave Sisu a 7.5, and Dom having Sisu, can't get a 7 out of me. I'm gonna watch this movie again because it's fun! It's far out like Angelina's Wanted movie where they curve bullets, but it's fun cinema.

I miss films like this
1 June 2023
No need for dialogue. The protagonist tells his story through carefully choreographed movements and facial expressions. He earned a name and showed why it was deserved. Like RRR, I appreciate taking a legend or regional lore and building a new story from it.

I like the villain as well. He was believable, tough and cocky. Not sure if he improvised or directed to do the little things that stood out to me. A look here, a gesture there. I liked him.

I'm willing to suspend belief when in the cinema, but there's one glaring problem, for me. His sidekick. Especially at the very end. It doesn't compute. In all, worth the money spent, great pacing, made me feel something and great length. A minute longer would've ruined it. Yes, some suspension of belief is needed, but I loved First Blood with Sly, and the Spartacus series, so I'm loving this. 7.5 for me, but there's no decimal here.

The Twilight Zone: Queen of the Nile (1964)
Season 5, Episode 23

Might be true (?)
24 January 2023
Just watched the episode today, Jan 2023 and to my shock, she's still with us! Maybe she really used that beetle! I'm being silly, but she was born 1928 and this episode shows 1964 date. Interesting. Fun episode, but I mourn for the old days. The long takes, delivering lines without a bunch of jump cuts. The days of memorizing lines are hard to find now. The special effects were creative to telling the story. Storytelling is always welcomed and The Twilight Zone delivered. The camera moved with the story and that classic close-up was used correctly. Pacing adds to the suspense. I can't give spoilers, but I think even today's audiences can sit through this one.

This is how you do it
1 December 2022
Hollywood is currently a failure because even simple movies like this, they don't know how to write anymore. The old ways had writers who lived and interacted with people. Today's writers are in a bubble trying to impress each other. The old ways had diverse castings, writers and directors. The difference was before, it was putting the art first. Today? I haven't a clue. There's nothing on screen that looks like life around me. This movie is closer to what I know than anything they put out today. I was in my 20s when I saw this in movie theaters. Both leads are the reason I wanted to see this back then. This movie is smart, witty, has some heart and knows exactly what it is.

Not accurate but entertaining
27 July 2022
Though not historically accurate, it is entertaining. Between Netflix and Showtime, you'd have to watch both versions to get a good picture. Both The Borgias and Borgia are starting points. Reading about this is kind of hard because he's a strain on the church, yet they can't completely hide him researchers. I find it funny to see Mr. Irons as a Pope. After you watch this, watch Borgia. If you're curious, read about each person, then read them as a family.

A real deep rewind
23 May 2022
You'll have to go back pretty far to find another bloody good time! This is a shocker in current year and refreshing! By the 32m mark, I'm going crazy! This is a throwback to a time when guys just turned off their brains and enjoyed a flick. This movie knows what it is and makes no apology. I only wish I'd saw this in theaters. Bob is awesome! Glad I found this.

Sick...

... and disgusting! I love it. The premise is fascinating, could use a lot of work, but I like the concept. The ending makes you wonder about the beginning! That's even more disgusting! I love it! Gonna recommend to family and friends.

From immoral to ammoral

The writers dropped the ball in season 3. Please, no more seasons. If so, I'll just skip it like I did other shows since 2015. Looking at the credits, things make sense. Then again, maybe I'm just too pre-2015 in my movies/shows. Even series that started before 2015 and ended after that year have noticeable changes. I'm done with You, done with Hollywood. I respect the craft, so the series gets a basic 5. Production value and the main characters are straight lunatics. Mommy issues on both sides. Tony Soprano, Norman Bates and these two lol.

Haven't felt this way since The Dark Knight
4 September 2021
To start, it's a comic book movie. You have to suspend belief with the action. Next, we saw WW, the original female super hero, learn to disguise her plane. Then she learned to fly. Then we see her catch lightning with her lasso! We saw a super hero bleed. Her story is similar to Superman II when he chose Lois over his powers. The villains tapped into this human side, this dark element about us and it showed up in everyone else. Like the Joker actually. I do love the father and son arc. This is missing in too many films lately. WW didn't need a huge fight scene to defeat the final boss. Like Superman, she knows she's more powerful than the humans, so she makes other ways work. I don't use Twitter, but if I did, I'd tag Gal and Patty and tell them that this was well done. I didn't even roll my eyes at any time as I expected some social justice nonsense. I actually laughed as well as get emotional because I saw through to the point being made. In the first one, she killed the god of west and there was still wear. In this one, she found the same issue. It's not the gods in her story, it's the people. We're the issue and we're the issue in real life. Then at the end, comic relief with dude in that outfit. The very end she was back to being a super hero with her hearing the sirens and distress. This want political and not too campy. Why all the hate? Story was better than the first one and I love the first one!

An alien movie I can roll with
4 July 2021
It's different and shouldn't be compared with Tom Cruise's movie. I was pulled in and hooked, asking questions and get believable answers in a sci-fi. The amount of sacrifice and intelligence was a good combo. I chuckled at the global warming hint, but it was otherwise apolitical. The emotional tug of seeing your daughter in her future form as a hero no one will ever know it's interesting. For me, the two generations of fathers coming together was great! What the main character says at the end of so true about fathers. Perhaps that's why so many don't like this movie? This movie did it right, though time travel is different per movie, I'm glad I saw this one. The action wasn't too much nor over the top. That alien race was pretty awesome! Reminds me of roaches in one way, but raptors in another. Trying to think of last time I saw so much combined in one film. This should've been in movie theaters. Salute to the crew and cast.

Watching now that I'm older...
24 June 2021
... this movie is timeless! Great humor, great casting, simple writing that's powerful. This movie should be lauded post 2015. I'm not into female empowerment as it's not my lane, but I do believe those who are should see this! Reese's performance shines and the whole cast is amazing. This is how you draw an audience without preaching. It's so relatable though I'm neither a blonde nor a female! Bend and snap this into your movie collection! For me, is as funny and heartwarming as My Cousin Vinny!

This movie is so stupid, but I laughed and had a good time. It's full of wisecracks and just, well, stupid.

Intrigued, had to complete
30 May 2021
I liked where it was going and sucked by the ending. Didn't see that coming. Samara Weaver is the reason I watched this and had a curious fun time guessing. Was going to give a 7, but the ending didn't agree with me. I liked the story and the movie though.

Ahead of it's time, or a warning
8 January 2021
Movie was released in 2017, but it's so 2020 is scary. Also, as I'm watching this, I only guessed one bad guy! All the liars are so convincing, you can't trust anyone in this thriller! I recommend this as a good watch.

The Apt Pupil
13 December 2020
Reminds me of the Apt Pupil. When you push the mentally unstable, they can snap back to their traumatic ways. Mental illness is a real thing and I just don't feel sorry for the way this ended. Play silly games, win silly prizes. I don't give spoilers, but this ending was a tragedy that could have been avoided.

True terror
24 November 2020
This is the most terrifying movie I've seen in a very long time. Gripping, holding you in and then take you down streets you didn't think they'd be brave enough to go. There's a lot of garbage out there, but this isn't one of them. Acting was convincing as well. Felt like watching a home video than a film. I'm stunned and feel the terror as I write this. You'd have to be numb not to at least like this.

This is how you build characters, build story and build a world. Actually holds your attention while being for more. That's how it's done.

Hard to find

Hard to find a good ninja film, but this one did the legend justice. Over the years, this secret service type group has a myth about them, and that's ok. At least this has a compelling story.

Unapologetically good film
17 November 2020
Anyone who knows about Chuckie's house know how would it gets over there. This is still a Hollywood tale but it's written so we'll and we'll acted that I can over look that. I thought Brawl was raw, but 8 have this an 8 because I'm feeling him. Also, they played to his intelligence. Scariest gangsters are the intelligent ones. I recommend this without giving spoilers. Lastly to the boys out there: stay away from prison. I don't have a movie script, just experience.

Good job. I like movies with a twist. A different director Mary have gotten more from this script, but this was a good job. Gonna recommend this one.

Please make a sequel
11 November 2020
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. All of my preconceived notions of this movie were tossed out from the start. I'm so glad she's not a Mary Sue, with her flaws. 16 year olds weren't here children at the turn of the 20th century, so it's refreshing to showcase this. At the same time, they made an error, in my opinion. They made mention of the Ritz hotel, but it wasn't opened until 1906. Otherwise, everybody did a good job. Breaking the 4th wall was a nice touch as well.

Done well
5 November 2020
This is how you tell a story. It has good frights because you're not expecting them. It has a good story to tell because you go in thinking you know. Then they tell you the truth and you lose respect for the main characters, but then end up feeling for them! Wow Also, this is how you can have a strong female character along a strong male. There's strength in being a woman rather than her being like a man. Both actors acted their tails of in this one.

This was fun
4 November 2020
All the negative vibes makes me wonder what people expect. This was fun like watching Michael Jordan play himself in a pickup game. The only thing I can gather is people did what they did to the younger Princess Leia in Rogue One. Or even Grand Moff Tarkin. It's sci-fi, so you surrender a level of disbelief. I enjoyed this movie and glad that they made it.
