Intruders (1992)
A must see for fans of the genre
Dan Curtis is one of the most underrated directors of his generation and this solid alien abduction film is another example of his ability.
This is a great film in the alien abduction genre and considering it was done with a TV movie budget, it's practically a masterpiece. Well done.
It should only be seen in its unedited form, as there were edited versions on DVD that were just bad. Only see the 2hr 41 min full version.
Night Skies (2007)
Please watch this film and be greatly surprised by a quality film with genuine scares.
Speaking of having low standards and getting a more than just a pleasant surprise - I loved it.
This movie starts off with a low budget feel, as most of the reviews have reflected. However, what the reviews don't say, is that this movie was really really good by film's end.
The Director and Producer should be very proud. Though I've got lots and lots to talk about, but not enough time do so...succinctly said, let me point out the particularly outstanding direction.
It's the little things: (spoiler alert) In the opening scene there is a cabin with hubcaps adorning the exterior walls and one hubcap had a reflection, a flash hint really, of an alien, but it's completely different at the "same" end scene, which I won't give away. It's got lots of great killer details like that.
And the second half has a very scary attack on the RV, which again was well done with genuinely effective direction. The second half is a solid 8 and the beginning is a good 6, but I gave the entire film a 10 rating to counter the bad reviewers, who, likely didn't see the entire film.
- kudos.
American Detective with Lt. Joe Kenda (2021)
I was honored to be featured in the series finale based on a story from my book "Twisted But True Book II - Filling in the Cracks"
Great production and the producer Briana and Homicide Hunter himself, Joe Kenda could not have treated me any better. They are both truly a Class Act.
They could not get all the twists and turns from the story in "Twisted But True Book II - Filling in the Cracks" as it would have had to been 3X as long. But other than that - great job.
Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)
At age 10, this movie was my first experience to great filmmaking.
It's a perfect film.
In 1972, I saw this Hollywood gem on a PBS channel on some late Saturday night, and fell in love with the magic of great films. After that, at the age of 10, I became a "Friend of Channel 8," which was Arizona's PBS home.
This movie was my first love in a vast treasure trove of great films, and as such it'll always have a special place. Thus, the perfect score may be more heartfelt as it is cerebrally based, but after multiple viewings I still consider it a perfect film.
