I Came By (2022)
Creepy thriller, absolutely worth a watch and deserves a higher rating
I didn't really know what to expect with this as the synopsis is quite vague (and in hindsight, that is a good thing). But I read the most positive reviews and they convinced me to give it a go. I am SO glad I did. This is an excellent, albeit creepy and sometimes startling, thriller. The average imdb score just doesn't do it justice, I do hope the 6/10 gets nudged up a little.
Great to see Hugh Bonneville in a role so incredibly different to what I am used to seeing him in. The main actors all did a wonderful job, especially George McKay.
Loved it and will definitely be recommending it to people. Watch it! Would love to be able to forget the movie just so I could enjoy it all again for the first time!
Last Seen Alive (2022)
Full of holes & incomplete ending. Used to much better from Gerard Butler.
I love a good missing person/action/"Taken" style movie so this looked right up my street. However, I was confused half the time as the story was full of holes but at the same time like a patchwork quilt all too conveniently coming together.
How could Knuckles have known Lisa was going to be at that petrol station at that exact moment? Normally you would expect the driver (husband) to have enough petrol for the last 15 minutes and then Lisa would never have been there but would have gone directly to her parents. The husband must have been involved! He finds everything so easily...from Knuckles to the cooking camp to the shed she's locked in.
I was flabbergasted when the movie ended because I thought there was going to be another 5 or 10 minutes showing how Will planned the whole thing to win his wifes affections again.
The police were like new recruits in police academy....letting him lead the way which makes no sense. And doesn't a person have to be missing for 24 hours before they will even investigate?
Is it just me and that one other reviewer who think it was the husband? Maybe I'm making it more complicated than it needs to be but I think that would have been a better ending to show that Will orchestrated the whole thing.
Enjoy though!
When Calls the Heart: My Heart Will Go On (2017)
My heart will just about go on
My goodness, what a smashing episode. Totally agree with the other reviewer. I can get teary eyed at emotional shows/movies, but this was my worst ever. So well done and moving! Congrats to the cast and crew...i love the whole show but this episode knocked it out of the park.
Left Behind (2014)
Hilariously enjoyable
I can understand every opinion on this movie. Bad, good and people laughing at it. I'm the latter. I'm guessing they were being serious about this being a possibility so maybe that's lost on me but at the end of the day, I had a seriously good laugh so for me, it was a success!! Wouldn't put me off Nicolas Cage or Lea Thompson in the future either. Not every movie is perfect and they didn't write it (I assume!). Open your mind and have a laugh with this one!
Sunset Beach (1997)
Hilariously slow and unforgettable
I think most viewers will agree when I write that this was a super enjoyable show back when it aired! I was around 15 and my older sister around 21 and it always aired on Saturday afternoons (in Ireland anyway) and she and I were only too delighted to do all the ironing for the entire household every Saturday as it basically involved a bit of work and a lot of laughter. The scenes moved along so slowly that you could easily see a shocked face, look down, iron an entire shirt, hang it (or fold it) and look back up and the shocked face would still be on screen. It was just so slow and dramatic. Like a drama club teaching kids how to hold poses or something. Hilarious stuff. But apart from that, it was just so enjoyable with the ridiculous story lines and wildly beautiful yet troubled characters. So far fetched that you couldn't become depressed by these "too beautiful" characters but you just had a laugh instead. It's probably difficult and slightly irrelevant for someone to start to watch it now as it would require sourcing and downloading (society is lazy now, don't forget!), but watching it while it was being aired just MADE our Saturdays. It still makes my sister and I laugh 18 years later! Enjoy folks! It's one of a kind that's for sure :-)
